Magical Memories at CBR (a Sep./Oct. trip report)

First let me get this out of the way "sorry I could not come up with a snappy trip report title". Ok, so this is my first trip report so bear with me. I'm writing this with lots of help from DD, AKA "miss purdy".
Anyway my family includes me DH Scott, my DW Sandy and DD Kaitlyn(the afore mentioned miss purdy).

Our trip ran from Sep. 28th to Oct.6th. We orginally planned our trip for Sep. 29th - Oct. 5th but modified it slightly as we got closer to our arrival date.
This was our 6th trip to WDW but only the 2nd on property stay. We are now officially spoiled and will probably never stay off property again. There is just nothing like being "immersed" in Disney magic 24 hours a day for the legth of your stay.
We are from NC and always drive down(about 10 hrs or so). This time was no exception. We usually drive down on our arrival day and essentially waste the first day of our vacation on the road. We decided this time to find a "cheaper" hotel close to Downtown Disney and drive down a day early(Sep.28th). We got tickets for MNSSHP that night and stayed at the Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista. It started pouring right as we left the hotel and we were praying that it was just a passing shower. Just as we drove into the TTC it stopped raining and while we were riding the monorail over to the MK this is the view we got out of the window!

Me and DD on the People Mover. I could ride that thing over and over. It's just a great way to take a break and relax for a bit.

We rode all the big ticket rides with the exception of Space Mountain(still haven't talked DD into that one yet) and filled up the trick or treat bags they hand out. I think its a dead heat between BTMRR and Splash Mountain for DD's favorite at MK. Poor DW gets vertigo so she doesn't ride much. We ate at one of the counter service places but for the life of me I can't remember where right now.
We caught the second parade but I didn't get any pics. All these were phone pics and its no good for low light pics. Got a new Nikon now so next trip I'm hoping to get some really good pics.
Anyway we headed back to the room after that because it had been a LONG but GREAT day!
See ya'll at the next post!

OK so we got back to our room after MNSSHP and pretty much crashed out. We had been up since 5:00 am that morning and it was almost midnight so we were exhausted.
I'm the early riser of the family so I was up before 7:00 and decided to head out for coffee and to see if I could get us checked into CBR.
bth_2012-09-29_08-25-31_38_zps4c17672e-1_zps14dae92e.jpg

This is the first time we have stayed there and I have to say we loved it! We stayed at POR last year and it was
very nice but I think we like the theming of CBR much better. We just loved all the palm trees and bright colors, not to mention the pool area was awesome!

I've seen alot of reviews with people complaining about the size of the resort but that just means more to explore for us. We loved it! I was able to score a room in Jamaica 46 which was right accross the lake from
the main pool/food court area.

Thats the view of the Jamaica section and the bridge that runs over to Caribbean Cay. You walk accross the little island and theres another bridge that connects to Old Port Royal(main pool and food court). Maybe a 3-5 minute walk, it was sweet!

A couple more pics from Caribbean Cay.

And my favorite pic of the resort that I got early one morning as the sun was coming up. It is truly a beautiful place:)

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to the TR but what can I say, I am fortunate enough these days to have a full time job that I am very thankful for.
So without further delay here we go with our first full ( and I mean FULL) day in DISNEY!
When I left off I had checked our family in to CBR early in the morning on 9/29. I had requested Jamaica 44,45 or 46 and after a short delay and a very helpful CM we were placed in Jamaica 46. Our room was'nt ready but I got our paperwork completed pretty quickly and headed out the door with our KTTW cards.
Since we were doing Disney only this year(no Universal or Seaworld) I kinda splurged and got the Waterpark fun and more hopper tickets.
After you add the hopper option it was fairly cheap to add the waterpark/mini golf/disneyquest option so I figured why not.
So I rounded up the family and we decided to head to Blizzard Beach!

We didn't get alot of pics from the water park but my wife did catch a few. I am the primary "photographer" in the family but I am also the primary "rider" with DD so the job fell to DW while we were at BB.

That's gotta be my favorite!

And thats about all she wrote for the BB pics.
We still had not received the "your room is ready" text so we played the winter side of the Wintersummerland minigolf while we were there.

We played all the minigolf courses on Disney during the week and I think this was our favorite.
The views of the scenic BB parking lot was the only thing that detracted from it. It was pretty cool!
We got our text and headed to CBR to check out our room where this was awaiting us!
bth_2012-09-29_14-50-47_974_zps682ba104.jpg

Unfortunately this was the extent of towel creations for the week. Mousekeeping was really great at POR and left us several towel animals but nothing while we were at CBR even though we left daily tips. Oh well.
A couple more resort pics.

We had an ADR at the Kona for like 5:30 so we headed to the TTC. We've had some great experiences at Kona so its kind of a tradition to eat here on our arrival day.

bth_2012-09-29_17-22-59_74_zps91faa783.jpg

Sad to say the food was only sub par this time but we haven't given up on the place.
After dinner we headed over to MK to finish out the day!
bth_2012-09-29_22-10-12_722_zpsc575e352.jpg

One of the members of our church back home was suffering with terminal cancer and it had been weighing heavily on DD's mind. So we decided to get a postcard for him and have Mickey and Minnie sign it. I took pics
of them signing it and emailed the pics to them.

All in all it was a great day! To be continued...

We stayed at CBR in December and had the same experience with the towel animals. We had none! They also did nothing with the stuffed animals that my son brought along with him. I figured they would have fun with them because we were staying in a pirate room and we brought pirate Mickey and Captain Hook. The trip before that, we stayed at All Star Movies and had a different towel animal each day and different arrangements of the stuffed animals constantly. Who knows!?!
Great TR so far! Can't wait to read more!
