Magical Express

How does Magical Express work with your suitcases?

After I check in my suitcases at my home airport that's it? I do not need to go to baggage claim to get my suitcase in Orlando?

A Little confused about this part of the service.

As DisneyJoe said, it is all about the yellow tags. All suit cases with yellow tags get pulled and routed to your hotel and then delivered to your room. A couple of things to keep in mind though. Suit cases can take a couple hours to be delivered after you arrive. So if you are wearing "travel" clothes and plan on hitting the parks when you arrive you will want to have a change of clothes or shoes in your carry on. Another thing to remember is if you arrive after 10pm you will need to grab your own bags as luggage delivery has ended for the day.

That is correct!! It is a great service! But make sure you take everything you may need with you in your carry on, such as magic bands, medications, change of clothes you may immidiately need, chargers for electronics, etc. As efficient as they are, you can sometimes wait awhile for your luggage.

And - if you arrive at your resort and your room isn't ready, you can leave your carry-on bags at your resort while you head into the parks to play. Sometimes the bags magically arrive in your room with your luggage and other times you can retrieve them when you return to your resort after playing in the parks.

I had one instance where it took several hrs.(like 5) for my luggage to arrive in my room. Which ended up being 11:00 at night. We were asleep and they knocked to wake us up.

You won't get yellow tags anyway.

If you are flying direct to Orlando from the uk rather than via a gateway airport in the us, you will have to collect your luggage anyway to go through customs. Now you can, if you really want to, put your luggage back onto the carousel and let Disney collect them (you hand over your luggage receipt tags you get when you check in). Why anyone would do this is beyond me. Or you can take your luggage with you and it will go on the bus.

If you land in the us at another airport and transfer, you will do customs and immigration there and drop your luggage off. In this case, you can leave it and let Disney collect, or collect it yourself. Same process as above.

So either way, collect your luggage, take it to MDE and it will go on the bus with you.

When you know your flight times
Another question. How close to your vacation can you schedule Magical Express? I want to wait until closer to my date to book airfare.
When you know your flight times let MC know. Arrival time is not as critical as departure, they have to schedule bus pickup from your resort.
I have had flight times changed several times, they are very flexible.
