I know we arent supposed to be doing this but we have a family of 5 staying in a room at pop century. Does anyone know if this is going to pose a problem with the magical express tickets? Any info would be helpful...thanks

Could be a problem - We've used ME quite a few times now & each time we needed a voucher for each person registered. Last year, my son surprised us by saying he was able to come down at the last minute - before he could use ME, we had to put him "in the system" as a registered guest. Otherwise, I don't believe they would have allowed him on the bus.

DME is definitely a problem. If a person is not a registered guest, they will not be issued a ticket and will be unable to board DME. Also if you are caught exceeding the maximum allowable number of persons in a room it is a FAR bigger problem in that you will be evicted or will have to rent a separate room, if available. There are some other issues such as EMH in which one of your people will be unable to take advantage of as each person's room card is scanned. Not to get preachy, but just so you are aware of what COULD happen. I am not sure how often this does happen, but I was told that is has happened with all the attendant consequences. Good luck, Belle

Oh good. Someone else made a thread about DME issues.

I just booked my hotel reservation last Monday, and booked DME, as well. I leave this coming Monday morning. If my DME packet doesn't arrive by Monday, what can I do? I want to have my bag brought right to my room, so I don't have to worry about where to put it while I'm running around, taking care of business.

If your tags don't arrive by Saturday, I would call DME back and explain the problem. Perhaps they can fax something to you (or to a local UPS store with a fax machine!) that you can use as a tag. It's worth a phone call.

First, no you will not be able to bring a Guest on DME who is not a registered Guest at a Disney Resort, no exceptions. Second, our Mousekeeeping is trained to look for signs of unregistered Guests at our resorts. For the safety of all of our Guests, you could be evicted from your room for exceeding the maximum party size allowed.

If at least one of your party is under 10 years of age you could modify to staying at Port Orleans Riverside which offers trundle beds in select rooms. Depending on season, the cost is less then booking 2 rooms at a Value Resort. This way you can properly register all Guests and enjoy your vacation without worring if you will still have a room at the end of the night.

Just check your luggage at the airport like you normally would for any flight and when you arrive at MCO go get your own luggage and take it to the DME line. They will load it on the bus for you and then you don't have the worry of wether or not they got your luggage. When you get to your hotel and check in ask to have your luggage stored at the front desk until you are able to take it to your room. I believe they will hold it for how ever long you need them to. Remember to tip those who help you along the way! Have a good trip!

I am afraid there is no way around this issue. All who ride DME must be registered hotel guests, names on the reservation.

Here's The Plan!

I have an even better idea for you!

Disney set up a system to help folks in your situation. They set up this system from Day One. Back then, there were just awful problems with the printing/mailing subcontractor out of New York, and LOTS of people who used DME in the first month or 2 did it without any paperwork.

Two words: NO PROBLEM.

Nine words: YOU CAN USE THE AUTOMATIC LUGGAGE DELIVERY SYSTEM ANYWAY!

Skip baggage claim, just as if your bags had tags. Go to the DME Welcome Center like everyone has to. One of the questions they will ask you is if you put DME tags on your checked luggage. When you answer "No," they will ask you for your baggage claim ticket numbers, as well as a physical description of each bag. They then immediately dispatch a CM to go to baggage claim, claim your bag for you, and then bring it back "behind-the-scenes" where it will be tagged and put with the rest of the DME luggage about to be trucked to the resorts.

Meanwhile, back at the DME Welcome Center, they will print out bus vouchers for you, as well, so that you can board the bus and so on.

This process will add about one minute to the time it takes to serve you, which will bring your time being served at the DME counter to a total of about 2 minutes.

Awesome! Thank you for the detailed advice!

And I'm sure they'll have no problem spotting a magenta, hawaiian print duffle bag. :ROFLOL:

If you have a digital camera and a printer - take a picture of your luggage and print it off. This greatly speeds the check-in at DME if your bags aren't tagged.

For clarity:

To the OP - It's really not worth the risk to try and circumvent Disney's rules. They've been "playing this game" a lot longer than you have. There are so many possibilities for them to catch you out and they have every legal right to evict you from the property if you're caught.

DME won't transport your whole party because they'll only issue tickets to registered guests. Mousekeeping will spot extra items in the room that indicate more guests than are registered and any CM could pick up on something that will get them wondering...

Even staying at a Value Resort, you've invested a fair amount of money. Do you really want to risk ruining the vacation?

For anybody using DME - there's lots of information available on how the system works if:
- the tags don't get to you in time
- you're required to clear customs on arrival at MCO
- you're flying home domestically on a partner airline and want to use Resort Airline Check-In

Search, or just ask, someone will get you the info.

Could I just take a picture of it with my cell phone, so I can show them what it looks like? I mean, I really don't get how "it's a magenta hawaiian print duffle bag" is that hard to pick out...

It is a pretty good description so I wouldnt worry. Also remember the person you are checking in with is most likely not the person who will be picking up your bags so. Still it sound like this bag may be kind of unique. Also be sure to put your name and home address on the outside of the bag so DME can verify that this is YOUR magenta Hawaiian print duffle bag. LOL LOL Im sure it will be just fine!!! Have a wonderful trip! Belle

That would work too. I said it helps, but it's certainly not essential. When you check in, they have a huge laminated board with pictures of every variety of luggage known to humankind... having a photo saved me from trying to find my bag on their board is all.

If I were the CM looking for a "magenta hawaiian print duffle bag", you would likely the wrong bag. Magenta isnt in my box of crayons.....
