Magical Express....One Way...?

So we're heading down to Disney in July. Going directly from the airport to Caribbean Beach Resort. Thus, we're looking to hop on the Magical Express. My issue is that on that tail end of our trip, we're actually renting a car (at the airport and don't ask...it's cheaper than picking up a rental at a resort) and heading to St. Petersburg for a few days. Then driving back to Orlando airport and flying home.

Two slightly different questions:
1. Can you take the Magical Express one way? Just on your arrival to the resorts?

2. Can you take the Magical Express to the resort, then ask to simply hitch a ride on the Express to the airport, WITHOUT them putting your bags through to the plane?

Any help would be solid. Thanks!

I know you can use the one-way option since we are doing exactly that in October. We are using Tiffany Towncar service to pick us up at the airport and the Magic Express to go back. No problem...

Part one is OK for sure. We're coming in next week to the Contemporary and then heading to Universal for the last few days of our trip. I did get a laugh, though, when the CM apologized and informed me that DME couldn't pick us up at the Hard Rock Hotel and take us to the airport. It's amazing that they have to tell people things like that, though I understand why they do. It's like putting HOT labels on coffee.
Part two, no idear.

1. YES, no problem, as long as your fight arrival date and your resort check-in date are the same.

2. Not sure if I fully understand your question. If you mean can you just go to the airport one day during your trip, then no, this is only for Disney Resort Guest on their arrival or departure dates only.

To use Disney's Magical Express you must be staying at a Disney owned and operated resort and flying into and/or out of Orlando International Airport. It does not matter what airline you are using.

For one way Airport to Disney - your flight date and Resort check-in date must match

For one way Disney to Airport - your flight date and Resort check-out date must match

For round trip - both must match.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

On the second question, I think the OP is asking if they can prevent resort workers from tagging their bags and checking them through.

I'll vetnure to say that if you don't want your bags tagged, they can't force you to do so (much like at the airport), and in some cases, cannot do it at all. Disney has partnerships with some but not all airlines that fly out of Orlando, so flight check in and bag check/tagging at the resort desk is optional prior to getting on the outbound DME bus.

Correct. To take advantage of the Airline Check-In Service for your departure, you must be flying with Delta (including Song), Continential, American, or United (including Ted.) Once you check your luggage with this service, you will get your boarding pass, and your luggage will be sent directly to the airport. This is a separate service from Disney's Magical Express, and its totally up to you if you wish to use it.

Otherwise, for your departure, your bags will travel with you back to the airport on the same motorcoach you travel on. Your bags are simply stowed in the cargo bay of the motorcoach. No bag tagging is involved.

If when you arrrive, you wish to NOT have Disney claim your luggage and deliver them to your room, simply do not attach the yellow luggage tags that you get with your Disney's Magical Express travel documents. Your luggage will not be identified without these tags and will go to baggage claim. You simply claim your own luggage first then proceed to the Disney Welcome Center to sign in and board your Motorcoach with your luggage. Again for your confort and safety, your luggage will be stowed in the cargo bay of the motorcoach.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

OK Question #1 hads been answered and that is a yes!!!
Questions #2- assuming that the date that you are going to get the car and the date that youare checking outr are the same then yes, you can use ME. Whichever airline you used coming in, DONT check your luggage with the airline desk. This will insure it stays with you. Do get scheduled for DME though, just put your bags in the regular luggage holding area. When it is time for you to pick up your bus, your luggage will be brought out and stowed under the bus. Then at the airport, they will give you your bags and send you on your way.
If you are NOT going to be checking out ( Hence no DME) call Guest Services. I know they can arrange a rental car from National which is on property. they will come and get you at your resort and take you to the office to complete the paperwork and viola!!! There you are!!! Hope this helps!! Belle
