The Magic Store on Main Street was the best!!! I loved that store...I've been to the one at West Side but I don't recall any secret passages...It is kinda cool how they have the store set up though...

The Magic Shop in Downtown Disney isn't too bad, it is set up like Houdini's library. Basically a book facade with a magician performing behind a desk.

From DowntownDisney.com:

Name: Magic Masters

Description: Modeled after Harry Houdini's library, you can learn the secrets behind the magic at this upscale shop and take home magic paraphernalia from around the world.

Location: Downtown Disney® area

Its a bit pricey for magic shops ... if you are looking for magic, email me, grasshof@msu.edu -- I love to talk Magic and I know of a few online deals who are very affordable.

There is one in Caesar's Palace in Vegas... The hidden room is just a room where the magician helps you with the trick you just purchased.

I went to the West Side Magic shop. It's just a Library. I didn't see any merchandise, and we hung around and they didn't demonstrate SQUAT!

Maybe you have to say a magic word to get them to perform?

According to Disney Magazine, you have to buy a trick first before they will perform it. Yes, the secret room is where you get to see the trick being performed. THe Mag also said that you can do the famous water tank illusion in front of your friends, anyone know more about that?

Not exactly the Emporium is in it's original location. Although it did recently expand into what used to be center street. The Emporium ALWAYS took up the entire 1st building on the west side Main Street.

The Magic Shops used to be what is now, the "Sports Memorabilia" section of the "Main Street Athletic Club", next to Casey's Corner.

The Rest of the "Athletic Club" is what used to be the "Main Street Arcade".

Technicality... Now it is all one big long building... I miss the old days, but don't we all?

nope, left hand...the right hand side has pretty much stayed the same over the past decade...except for the candy store, (as well as the more recent bakery/ice cream parlor refurb.) i think the candy store looks really awesome and i like it, but i don't see how it fits in with the main street theme.

You are correct Dizknee_Phreek it was on the left hand side. I remember looking for it on the way to the penny arcade. I loved looking at all the spooky masks they used to sell there. Those were truly magical times...hmmmm

Here's a pic of the old House of Magic on Main St. from Disneypix.com (taken in 1981):
