Magic Kingdoms next light parade

Im assuming there is no word on any new light parade besides the Paint the Night rumors cast members have told me what would you predict this next parade would be like? After seeing Festival of Fantasy I really think there going to stick with the orchestrated. Disneyland seems to use heavy beats in their scores. But just like the Paint the Night Electrical Parade I would imagine they would have a Paint the night Spectromagic with the original theme song. They did say it would be a totally different lineup for the units.

1.) I want the next WDW electrical parade to be a spiritual successor to Spectromagic by bringing back new original characters for the parks similar to the Spectromen from Spectromagic with new floats featuring past Disney films including ones that aren't that well-known to the public mainly the ones from the 1960's - the late 1980's.

2.) Make a brand new version of Spectromagic but given the same treatment Tokyo did with MSEP by making it a brand new parade with some elements from the previous incarnation. If you seen Dreamlights then you know what I'm talking about.

I love Spectromagic as that was the first WDW parade I saw as kid. That said, I think a re-tooled Spectromagic would be somewhat of a mistake. Giving a nod to it and MSEP here and there is fine but I'd really like to see what Imagineering could come up with if they were allowed to really let loose and not be creatively restrained.

I know many are down on the creative team, especially since the Jungle Book show is getting poor reviews right but I don't think that is really emblematic of what can be done. From the get go it was always going to be a footnote in WDW history. Rivers of Light and Avatar will be good barometers. I'm hoping the Rivers of Light delay is because of the desire to get it 100% right the first time and not settle for anything less than the absolute best.

What night parade is there at the moment? It's been 5 years and I go back in 3 weeks. Still electrical?

I miss Spectro too. First one I saw as a kid. Electrical parade was a nice change but I miss the Spectro music.

What were the original running dates for MSEP and Spectro? I remember MSEP being the first night parade I saw as a kid, but I also had only gone to WDW when I was a few months old before that. I always thought MSEP was the older one though because of that, but when I think about it we do have a postcard that has Spectro on it that looks fairly old as well.

A new parade would be awesome eventually, though my nostalgia is obviously for MSEP ;)

MSEP Orlando was June 77.

Spectro was October 91.

I feel like DLR has better parades than WDW. Spectro, as much as I loved my 2 years with it, was a wreck. I have to say that Festival of Fantasy is a pretty cool parade so I have faith that WDW can get themselves an awesome light parade.

I would like to see a parade that doesn't just reuse the music from other songs and parades. I just recently saw Paint the Night and while some floats were very impressive, I wish they hadn't used the song from Wreck-It Ralph as the main staple. Also, while I enjoyed the ending Mickey float, I was vaguely annoyed that they used the drum intro from Soundsational. It seemed like a lot of effort went into the floats and they kind of skimped on the music. (Not saying the music isn't upbeat or enjoyable, I was just expecting a little more effort in the music department.)

MSEP was supposed to run for the summer of 2010 and Spectromagic to return after that summer but they decided to keep MSEP much longer.

How was it a wreck?

They weren't aging well. Pieces were falling off and they would constantly get stuck crossing bridges when the least bit wet. It was an old parade and things started to deteriorate.
I once heard that when Disneyland gave WDW MSEP that they were given clear instructions as how to take care of the floats as for them to not deteriorate. Anyone know anything about that?

John Debney?
Turns out Spectromagic was composed by various artist.

Here's a complete list of them
* Howard Ashman
* Bruce Donnelly
* Sammy Fain
* Don Frantz
* Leigh Harline
* Jack Lawrence
* Alan Menkin
* Steve Skorija
* Ned Washington

That's a total of 9 people who worked on the soundtrack. No wonder I loved the music so much.

I always thought the Chernabog float had beautiful music playing on it. It seemed like it was drowned out by the actual parade music.

the music absolutely made it! Not that it wasn't magnificent anyway... I don't know... Electrical parade just doesn't give me the same feeling. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing.

Spectromagic was also the very first parade I saw at WDW, just a few hours after arriving for my first trip, and I was literally blown away! I couldn't have been more disappointed by what was done to the floats after the parade ended its run. :(

BTW, are any of the floats still around? I heard that a few were salvaged for training purposes.
