Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise to close for a near month long refurbishment in the Spring

I can't really see a connection with the restaurant, I also haven't seen any permits for Jungle Cruise yet.

BTW, where was the Jungle Cruise restaurant confirmed? I know it's happening, but I haven't seen anything official from Disney.

Looks like I was wrong about this, there was a permit...

Jungle Cruise Expense - Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction

The use of the word "Expense" in the description is interesting, this isn't something I have seen before. This would indicate to me that this is just general maintenance, just an expense, and not an improvement of some sort.

An expanse is generally an open, undeveloped area. The use of that word (to a layman like me) seems contrary to needing to close the ride.

I was wondering about the addition of a scene to tell the story (promote) the restaurant, but I realize that's just a shot in the dark.

I just noticed that the closure on the refurb list I get shows the refurbishment as extended through May 18th, a 10 day extension. Does anybody know if this is a typo (accidentally adding the 1 in front of the 8) of if they did decide to keep it closed longer?

I have a FP booked for May 13th and haven't gotten any emails....yet.

In 44 years they can't come up with an official script for the temple?
I always thought the reason they didn't talk inside the temple was because it would get way too loud if the Cast Members were to use their microphones. Remember that the temple is an enclosed environment, so the volume would be too high (I don't think it can be manually adjusted).

I remember there was a joke about the Golden Girls in the temple...referring to the golden statues along the wall as you exit...and I know I heard it more than once...Maybe it was just an old script...

We were there a couple of weeks ago and as we went through the temple, our guide faced us(turning his back on all the "dangers") and did this running gag that he was trying to find the guide book that told him how to get us safely through the temple. This wasn't something we had heard before and if it was scripted, there wasn't much to it and it got old after the first 15 seconds.

I don't think it's that they can't, it's that they don't want to. Reason I was given is that WDI wants the "mystique" of the temple to be the attraction there, not the skipper. I can see it both ways. The real kicker for me is how strict management has become in the past few years about curtailing skipper creativity.

An adlib that became a pretty standard joke in the 90's, but as far as I'm aware it was never in the script.

I've heard some great lines in the temple:
  • "Is that you tigger?"
  • (Singing) "it's a small world after all"
  • "There is no earthly way of knowing... In which direction we are going..."
  • "Snakes... why did it have to be snakes?"
  • "Monkeys... why did it have to be monkeys?"
  • "Oh look... the Golden Girls"
  • "Look... Frozen in time, the steps of the Macarena"

There are several reasons we don't speak in the Temple. First, since the temple design is based on actual temples in Asia, there is a respect factor. Secondly, it is an opportunity for the Skipper to rest their voice and drink some water before finishing the cruise.

I appreciate the input. Is there something specific that says not to spiel during the Temple?
