Magic Kingdom Tour Plan for August Trip

Hi folks. First time posting here. We'll be taking a family vacation in August to Walt Disney World and on one of our days plan to go to the Magic Kingdom. I've been reading a lot about strategies to get the most of your time in the park and I wanted to see what people thought of my hypothetical plan to MK. Our group consists of six adults and four children (6,7,8,13). I want to get a lot of attractions in but want to avoid a) having to run through the park and b) waiting in too many long lines (say greater than 45 minutes). We'll be staying on property, Yacht Club Resort.

Here's my plan. Tell me what you think. At 60 days out I want to try to grab fast passes for two attractions in Fantasy Land for the afternoon (probably Seven Dwarves and another) and then grab Pirates of the Caribbean for mid morning. Enter MK and immediately board the train for Frontierland. Ride Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain and then ride our PotC FP+. After that go to Adventureland and ride Jungle Cruise and whatever time allows. Have a bite to eat somewhere (counter service) and then do Hall of Presidents and Haunted Mansion before going to Fantasyland to do our FP+ and other rides until we get to dinner time when we'll eat at Be Our Guest. After dinner, finish up in Fantasyland and do Tomorrowland attractions until it's time to leave.

Welcome aboard, Jim

August is hot and its busy (we'll be there from the 12th). Your plan is good in theory. You will encounter lines of over 45 minutes for the headliner rides from probably late morning onwards.
FP+ for 7 Dwarves is essential - you and the entire world will be trying to get them at 60 days. Don't despair if you can't get them first time round as some people will cancel.
Likewise with your reservations for Be Our Guest - keep trying.

See you in the parks !!

I've usually read that you should knock out as much of Fantasyland as possible at the beginning of the day. I actually had success at doing that, then hopping the train to Adventureland and Frontierland on a trip in July. We rode most of the rides (well, important ones at least) by lunch time. It is definitely important to make a plan. Good luck!

I have visited in August many times- at rope drop they were only allowing people into Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. The entire left side of the park was closed for the first hour. YMMV.

Welcome aboard. So it's just my husband and I which is obviously different from your group. I will say that there is no way on earth I'd ever go again from June to September, but if we were to go to MK in August, here's how we would do it.

Try to get FPs for Thunder Mountain, Seven Dwarfs, and Peter Pan because all those lines are hard for us, especially in extreme heat. We wouldn't get FPs for anything with an indoor queue (soak in the AC) other than these 3.

We would do sit down lunch and dinner to take a nice break from the walking and the heat and have a nice meal to replenish and reenergize. We would do some store hopping throughout the day and take advantage of all attractions featuring coolness like Presidents, Pirates, Philharmagic and so on. And possibly return to the room to then return to the park later when the sun goes down.

Whatever your plan ends up being, drink water like crazy, eat to energize, and have a wonderful family trip.
