Magic Kingdom to open for 24 hours on Memorial Day Weekend to kick off a Monstrous Summer

I expect more locals than last time. February 29 was a Wednesday. I'm guessing we see a mad rush around 6:00 as people head over after work.

To do what though? There isn't anything special taking place. If there were special fireworks or a parade, that would be different. I think the locals will see it as a non-event.

Think for yourselfer
To be there into the wee hours.

It feels like I am always disagreeing with you. lol

I agree with @ptaylor

I don't see this as a major event. The first time was....interesting? different? unique? This is just, a long night. It already seems to be much slower then the last effort.

We half agree. I don't see it as a super big deal either. But I think other people will.

It's still hitting me that I am pulling an All-Nighter. I'm the one currently wearing a Black T Shirt and Grayish Cargo Shorts with the Blue WDW bag. Feel free to say hi if anyone bumps into me

I am living here in Florida over the summer and travel back and forth from Fort Myers to Orlando alot. In regards to locals - I have come to realize that most locals tend to stray away from Disneyworld. As other posters said - if it were a special parade/show happening I think locals would go. But I have been in contact with people in the surrounding 3 hours radius of Orlando and only about 10 percent knew that the MK was open 24 hours tonight. Of that 10 percent no one is going anywhere near MK.

With that said - I am thinking that 24 hour event will demonstrate different waves:

Wave 1: Morning/Day guests (those who attended the opening) and those who plan to be in the MK anyway
Wave 2: Early evening/typical closing guests. Those with younger children, etc to see MSEP and Wishes.
Wave 3: All nighter: Resort guests, and die hard disney fanatics with a mix of locals. This will be my first so I am looking forward to being in the magic of it all.

Are you staying in the park for the full 24 hours??? I do not think I could do that if I tried, lol. I plan to be there from 11pm tonight to 6am. I cant leave anyway - I have no hotel ha ha. I am going to get some good sleep on Presidents and CoP

I hope you can get in showing up that late. All nighter on a friday? I expect closures...
I think 11:00 should be safe. Once the first parade and fireworks are over, the non-all-nighter crowd should thin considerably. I agree with you in the pre-MSEP hours though, especially when DAK and Epcot are closing.

Only insane folks would want to be at the MK for 24 hours (or even 12) ... oops, I think I let that slip out like one of those silent but deadly gas attacks.

I guess I must be back from an amazing one month Faux Top One Percent Spirited Spring Holiday ... and you'll never guess all the places I've been and things I've seen and people I've talked to (oh and food, lots and lots and lots of food) and rumours and NEWS about all three O-Town resorts that I have soaked up like a sponge (or ... make up your own fanboi joke here).

And since @Lee sucked at his job of keeping my thread from falling apart into some bizarre thing (all I read were the last two pages) -- funny how that NEVER happens over in old man Sotto's 'I Once Was an Imagineer and Now I'm Not' thread, you can all look forward to Spirited News and Observations III ... because it's coming your way in the not too distant future.

BTW, great trip ... but I will never get the unending fanboi love for the MK, a park that is a mess still and has seen much better days. But back to your thread ... I sure don't want to derail it because that never happens to others!

Think theres enough O-town lifestylers to get MK to hit phased closings in the overnight hours?
