Magic Kingdom Tips and Tricks!

If you could offer one Tip, or your favorite must do best kept secret for the Magic Kingdom for first timers what would it be? Unique out of the way things that first timers may miss. Or Great tips on what to avoid or do to get the most out of your first visit!!!

If you want to score yourself some Disney Crocs...don't buy them at Disney for the normal $30-40 price. It's only $15 right now on clearance at crocs.com. That's pretty cheap. Yes they are still hideous, but they are Disney, comfy as hell, you don't have to worry about them flying off in a ride, and lastly rain or shine you're golden.

The BEST way to do this is to let the WDW photographers do it for you. The first one that offers to take your picture will give you a photopass card. Present that to ALL other photographers that you can. They'll take great picks and sometimes they'll pose you so that your finished picture will have a special guest. Doing it this way the entire family is in the pictures and they are nicely done. When you get home, dial up the photopass web site, put in your card number(s). You can edit the pics, add borders and save those. You can even add "stock" photos to your collection. Then just buy the cd and you get all of those pics that you can print at home or WalMart. It really is a great way to catch the magic.

p.s. Don't forget to PREORDER the cd. it's $100 pre-order...as opposed to $150 if you buy it after. They also give you a guarantee, i.e. turns out you never use photopass, you can get a refund and not order the cd after all after your trip. But it's nice cus the photocd preorder (or any photocd) will come with all the pics with edits made. So the i dunno 100 photopass photos we took on our most recent trip came out to about 800 photos on our photocd cus we added all the cool disney borders and etc to each one so we have options for future printing. p.s. it's nice too cus now u can get tons of photos of you that are pretty decent (each photopass photographer takes 2-4 photos of you) without having to ask some random stranger (who usually has horrible photo taking skills and will take just one picture) to take a picture for you (and I dont know about you but this always makes me feel bad too).

Not really a "tip" or "trick" but more of a suggestion... take lots of pictures.

While in Magic Kingdom for example, take pictures of: ride buildings, ride signage, inside rides (if appropriate), store signs, store buildings, from the 2nd level of the train station looking down Main Street USA, the signs welcoming you to the different lands, the wait times board as you enter the hub, Tomorrowland area from the TTA (if it's open), the many gardens and flowers, the palm trees in Adventureland, the Haunted Mansion exterior in black & white, Frontierland streets from the Liberty Belle...

The list could go on and on.

That's the best advice I could give to a first timer... soak in as much as you possibly can, and take a ton of pictures so you can remember what you experienced.

Honestly these are GREAT filler shots when making a photobook or photo album. So you don't end up with a book/album with nothing but the same posed pics of you and your family. It helps kind of tell the story of where you are/were ..which is nice. And it's your photos rather than stock photos too.

p.s. Most cameras are digital so hey a bad picture won't cost u anything other than time to delete it. So i don't take too much time taking these filler photos. I just start snapping away wherever I walk. It probably helps my camera has an image stabilizer. I'm sure I could get better photos, but time is money for me at Disney World.

Ride to run for fast pass immediately as you get into the park:

Epcot - Soarin

Magic Kingdom - Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Flight of Peter Pan, or Winnie the Pooh

Hollywood Studios - WITHOUT question TOY STORY MANIA RUN RUN RUDOLPH SANTA GOTTA GET A FAST PASS...okay that was horrible. But let's just say I was there at 8:30, 30 minutes prior to general park opening, fast pass return time was already at 11:00 am, by the time I actually got my fastpass it was 11:20 am. When 11:20 am hit the fast pass return time was for 7 pm...WOAH.

Animal Kingdom: Safari Tour or Expedition Everest.

p.s. Fastest way to Expedition Everest is through Asia not Dino Land.

Wear comfortable shoes, get to the park at rope drop, enjoy your day. It wasn't until several trips later that we slowed down to enjoy the little things. Also, I like to stop in shops throughout the day and not wait until the end of the day when I am tired and the stores are more crowded etc. :)
