Magic Kingdom not as much patriotic anymore?

It seems like patriotism has slipped little by little since the opening. Looking at old videos and pictures it seems like the Magic Kingdom and even Disneyland has been more about America and and its heritage not as much Disney where Disney franchise has taken over more and more. There was even a time where Fantasy in the Sky was caped off with a patriotic salute ending with God Bless America.

Things may have changed over the years but there still is patriotism. Here are just a few examples: HOP, new Muppet Show in MK, flag retreat every evening, water pageant and the afternoon parade has a huge bald eagle and American Flag. They also thank the Military by providing resort and ticket discounts to military members.

You do realize it's a DISNEY theme park, right? And thus should be about Disney, the Disney franchise, correct?

Disneyland and Magic Kingdom both have 2 lands about America (Main Street U.S.A, and Frontierland). And mk also has liberty square. Epcot also has a building dedicated to America.

To me personally, I'm pretty glad the level of patriotism has been tone down, it makes the park much more inclusive to international travellers.
Sharing our culture, heritage and story with international travelers I think is very inclusive and welcoming. When we travel out of the country we want to see their cultures and how they lived, their history and heritage. Remember there traveling here to see Disney but there also coming here to visit America. If not they would have just stayed over seas.

The very Disney product is, amongst other things, a presentation of Americana and reassuring patriotism. That is, at least was, what makes DL and the MK so decidedly Disney.

Replacing that sense of Disney with toons and movie IP's is fairly new. Disney has contracted its product, to more or less 'if it isn't from a directly marketable franchise it isnt Disney'.

Mickeys house is still red white and blue. I dont think patriotism has slipped although I do miss watching the Fife and Drum corps marching and playing in EP. It really got the heart pumping and blood rushing with pride in my country as they paraded in. I truly wish Disney would reinstitute that performance. It was something I never missed.

Disney's brand of patriotism was also the most appealing example of it. It included everything from industry and agriculture, to music and literature, to civil rights and scientific achievements. The underlining priciple was always "we are great because we do great things", which is more inclusive and inspiring than any boast about being the best just cause.

America needs that kind of patriotism more than ever. Not bumper stickers, t-shirts and facebook likes.
