We went to DLR twice last year, and between our touring schedule and the winds, we never saw any fireworks. I watch Wishes because it's nostalgic for me. But in general, I don't get into fireworks.
It will be different for you once you watch them with your kid.

Having my kid in my lap in complete awe a few years ago (at WDW) completely changed how I look at fireworks shows.

Crowds seemed very light all day until sometime between 6:30pm and 8pm (I was at DHS during that brief time and came back to INSANE people). Very low wait times for the most part everywhere. I was pleasantly surprised. LOTS and LOTS of costumes.

If you're ever in the mood, take a look at that show. It's the regular firework show (Magical! is the summer firework show). Blows every firework show I've seen in person out of the water. I never heard a negative comment about the show.
