Hey guys, the second show went smoothly:
If it takes place in front of guests it is not a dress rehearsal - it is the real deal. Dress rehearsals are done behind closed doors. The guests that saw it are not going to care that the parties start on Friday.Technically the night the glitch happened it was not the first "official" lighting if the castle. That does happen until Friday. This was a public dress rehearsal the holiday season at WDW does not officially begin until the first MVMCP.
I don't know why people keep calling this embarrassing problems happen especially with lights and technology. The castle was fully light a few minutes later an since it was a dress rehearsal it wasn't like it was the final thing that will happen every night.
Yeah, it wasn't that bad. Was I the only one wondering how awkward the show would be right at the end if there was a really bad glitch and none of the lights came on at all? Fairy Godmother would run crying from the castle because she didn't have enough magic with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy standing there on stage staring at each other...It looked better than I expected. If it was burnt out left to right as opposed to top to bottom it would look worse.
Smells like it's time for another refurbishment if this "glitch" continues.
Nope. I've been to dress rehearsals for several things, including FLE dress rehearsal 3 weeks ago and it was very public. It's called that because they aren't sure everything is fully worked out and won't know until they get audience reaction to things like timing, intros etc. and sometime not everything works but that's what their trying to find out and fix. Some dress rehearsals are non-public but there are definitely public ones.If it takes place in front of guests it is not a dress rehearsal - it is the real deal. The castle lights are 5 years old now, and the show has been unchanged since day 1. They do not need any kind of public rehearsal for guest reaction to this. As soon as it plays to guests, it is expected be 100%.Nope. I've been to dress rehearsals for several things, including FLE dress rehearsal 3 weeks ago and it was very public. Kind of like that Billion dollars of next generation technology they are banking on to turn around WDWs ongoing attendance woes?Technically the night the glitch happened it was not the first "official" lighting if the castle. Overtakers...
Seriously though, as an A/V/L "techy" who's run many a live show, these things happen all too frequently. Probably a blown circuit, dimmer pack or relay somewhere failed. Or, somebody could've just unplugged them. Either way, I'm somebody in a control room somewhere was cursing Mr. Murphy.
A glitch, huh? I suppose we could blame Vanellope...
