MK has already phase closed since the FL expansion, so I expect to see that continue. I don't see the Mine Train making the difference in capacity to prevent that.

Hmm... I had never heard of this before (that's the newbie in me coming out, I guess LOL).

I was just looking at the page here on WDWMagic that describes the different phases of closing, and at the top it says during phase 1 that "guests with 'Magic Your Way' base tickets or a '1-Day 1-Park Ticket' and Guests without an admission ticket" are the first to get turned away, but then phase 2 and 3 is worded as if all onsite guests are still admitted. What if someone is staying onsite but didn't purchase a park hopper?

Maybe I just don't fully understand the rules and categories here.

Also, how often does this happen? Should I be overly concerned about the first week of June?

ETA: We will be staying at the Pop for our entire trip and have park hoppers, so technically most of this wouldn't apply to us anyway. I'm more curious than anything :)

I just happened to be looking at wait times this morning, and thought that they were really high for all of the parks. I had to think about what day of the week it was and thought it was crazy for a Wednesday.

Yes it is catch up from the weather yesterday... And really it is quite nice with a temp around 75, so everyone and their mother/grandmother has come here today.

I agree. It was empty yesterday with the rain. And also locals with 'seasonal' passes aren't blocked out yet. So probably a good local turnout as well today.

Trust me, you don't want MK to increase the cut off limit. You want more room & ride capacity, but we don't need it to actually allow them to fill the park more at this point. Epcot does very well not feeling as crowded because it is a large park, there is lots of space, and ride capacity (despite only have a couple headlines) is pretty good.

Today is only a foretaste of what lies ahead next week and the 24 hour day. Projections have dropped just a tad for next week, but there are still talks of phase closures. FP Kiosk lines and FP Return lines were long today at MK causing tempers to rise. The 24 hour day is rumored to be one of the busiest days at MK ever given that the new Mine Coaster might be open, it being Memorial Day Weekend, and it becoming a repeated plan-able event. Keep in mind that busiest day of the year may not mean most crowded as crowds might be dispersed a little bit better.

Lots of Twitter reports of unusually heavy traffic this morning. Up until now, this week was relatively unbusy. Not sure what happened.
Me and my friend were literally flabberghasted and the crowds today, we went just to spend the day and it was a 30 minute wait just to park. The crowds were huge and Pirates was 80 minutes as was haunted mansion so we just left around 3 and called it a day. Mind you we got into the park round 1030 and things were already that bad.

Even Stitch's Great Escape had a line.

Wait until that 24 hour event on Memorial Day weekend!
We were at disney last year, but didn't go to the 24 hour event. We were asleep in our room and kept checking our phones for wait times. It wasn't terrible after like 11:30pm (like most rides 20-40 minutes if I remember correctly), but still not good enough for us to crawl out of bed!

We're pretty much all about rides, we planned this year to leave disney before memorial weekend. If we lived closer or had an annual pass I'd be more up to these special events.
