Rumor Magic Kingdom 50th Refurbishments

As information becomes available, I will update this post and provide where I found the information. Here is the list of rumored refurbs for the 50th:

• FantasyLand:
  • Mickey's Philharmagic (Martin)
  • "it's a small world" (Martin)
  • Mad Tea Party (Walrus)
  • Cinderella Castle to receive "extensive work" (peter11435)
    • The Castle will be painted "Rose Gold" (MouseBrayden)
• Tomorrowland:
  • Carousel of Progress (Martin and WDW Pro)
  • Astro Orbiter (Martin and Walrus)
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority (Walrus)
    • No Plans at the moment per WDW Pro
  • Tomorrowland Restroom "Up for improvements" (Walrus)
  • Tomorrowland Speedway(Walrus)
    • Longterm plans not greenlit (Walrus)
  • Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (WDW Pro)
    • "some upgrades applied, but shouldn't be down for significant time"
  • Space Mountain
    • "2 year refurbishment will update every square inch of the ride"
• Adventureland:
  • Enchanted Tiki Room (Martin)
  • Swiss Family Treehouse (Martin)
    • Dates: April 27 - May 3, 2020
  • Jungle Cruise (Site who shall not be named)
    • Will also be getting a refresh next year.
      • Track may be altered Might not be for 50th (Walrus)
    • The timeline for that is still unknown.
• Main Street USA:
• Liberty Square:
  • Haunted Mansion
    • Wont be going down for long, believed to be smaller (WDW Pro)
• Frontierland:
  • Country Bear Jamboree (Martin)
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Site who shall not be named)
    • "Will undergo a extensive refurbishment this up coming year".
    • Timeline: Close New Year and reopen by "summer 2020".
      • Pushed back, Maybe next year
    • Will feature "new on-ride special effects" (WDW Pro)
    • Most likely track will be replaced
    • Dates: May 4-21, 2020
    • "Refurb was downgraded"
  • Splash Mountain
    • Jan 6th - Feb 27th, 2020

I hope the BTMRR refurb includes creating more space in front of the queue entrance because that area gets dangerously crowded.

Finally putting in those new lift hill effects. I don't know about California but they are extremely unreliable in Paris so hopefully they work something out.

I think they're better in CA now, they were unreliable the first few years but past few times have all been good for me.

I couldn’t be more excited to hear that they are doing an extensive refurb to Big Thunder. My favorite attraction at WDW and Disneyland.

I hope they have more planned other than the explosion effects on the last lift hill, but I am not complaining and will gladly take all we get.

While I would normally be thrilled to read about BTMRR (our fave!) getting an update, I am selfish and I don’t want it closed for refurbishment next May while we do our last Disney trip for the next few years.

I’ve ridden both versions of BTMRR in the US and I have to admit that the WDW version is seriously lacking at this point. My bro and I both were missing the dynamite effect from DL.

The dynamite effect is great when the timing works well. I also want it to be more explosive than it is. More steam, maybe some water effects.

Also I would maybe anticipate some of the updates that Tokyo Disneyland jungle cruise received like the picture mapping in the temple.

Apparently Disney shot it down. Even though The Rock said it was happening... JC is going for a refurb the same year the film is released...

Good. I'm all for refurbs so long as they don't alter the heart and soul of the attraction. I only wish Space Mountain was on that list. It needs it even more than these two.

With the Refurb it needs, it should have gone down this year...(for about 2 years)

They might do one shortly before/after Tron opening.

That's been my hope as well. I'm prepared to be disappointed I'm sure, lol

And I imagine these two are going down when they are so they're nice and shiny and new for the 50th in 2021, so that's a plus.

Not sure I'm ready to see an animatronic The Rock in Jungle Cruise but who knows? I'm open to the Jungle Cruise receiving some changes as long as the bones of the ride remain the same. For me, depends on the movie.

The explosion effects at DL are awesome but I like how you get whipped around more at WDW. I suspect a refurbishment will take that away.

I bet that’ll really make people happy.
While they are at it maybe they can trash the fake animals. What a bore.
And actually, they should really think about getting rid of the captains. Once the jokes are cut, and the fake animals are gone, they really are pointless.
