Thanks all! It's kinda crazy working full time for the Mouse, especially when you work in QSR like I do. Well, I do have an early start to my day tomorrow. So have a wonderful evening all!

Anyone here?

Already vented a little on FB, but I can use smilies here, so here goes:
Mike got his vacation days approved for this year. He is allowed one vacation in the summer, so he gave them one week in June, July, or August, and they approved the one in July. Only, hubby didn't look at Abby's church camp schedule when he gave them that week, and it is right in the middle of the week Abby's at church camp, and the week she wants to go back and work in the kitchen at camp. :brick::brick: Not to mention, Orlando in July, in the heighth of tourist season, with HP just having opened in the spring......not going to work.
So what to do? He got the week off in December he wanted too, but that would involve the kids missing 5 days of school. Mike's not crazy about that, and I'm not really either......
He's going to try to see if there's any vacation time still open in August, but if there isn't....Orlando is probably off the table till sometime in 2011. Belgian bummer! :(:(:(

((Hugs)) Jen.

So sorry to hear about the troubles.

Could you go on a vacay closer to home then? Or would that not work because of Abby's camp?

Well Jenn, have taken any consideration to approaching Abby, and saying look I know you want to go back to camp this year and I know the week you want to, but would you consider picking another week because that's the one week your Dad can get off for us to go to Orlando...I mean I know if my mom came to me and explained the whole situation to me I would consider it because it's more important to put something that's for the good of the family before the good of my own self...

I think the problem is that the camp is only that one week. That's why they can't do that option.

Nibbs is correct...each week is based on grade levels, and is only offered once a year in July. Plus I wouldn't expect Abby to cancel camp for vacation, as it gives her the opportunity to meet some really good kids and some spiritual growth/encouragement, which is IMO more important than anything else.
No....what it really boils down to is patiently waiting for another time to head to Orlando, and instead doing a getaway that's less than a day's drive for us. Possibly Hershey,PA, but also Pigeon Forge, TN is back on the table - there seems to be more in TN that might appeal to Joel - Ripley's Aquarium of the Seas, Dollywood, I think there's also a dinosaur 'museum'. Plus mountain views and finding a cabin w/ a hot tub :animwink:....that sounds pretty nice too.

Watching Hope for Haiti. Is it wrong to change the channel, just can't watch it anymore

((Hugs)) for your tender heart Stephie!:kiss:

Our tiny little school raised $1400 today for Haiti. My homeroom alone donated over $300!

That's wonderful! Our congregation is sending $1000....I spoke with a friend who was once a missionary to Haiti w/ her husband - thankfully the mission they served was on the northern part of the island and was not affected. But a number of teens from the mission did go to school in Port-au-Prince and they were trying to track them all down. It's so sad. :(

I was sorry to hear about Anya's ear infection - how is she doing right now?

Eh. she's just really tired. She's got red circles under her eyes and her nose is a faucet. She's been up a lot at night coughing.. and today we switched rooms so we were forced to skip her nap. Long day today. I feel like our vacation hasn't really started yet. :(

We stayed 2 nights at kidani, and now we're at OKW. That didn't help much. We had no nap today because our room wasn't ready in time. Poor thing. She's still in a good mood most of the time though, which is nice.

Bless her heart...I'm sure everyone will be ready for bed. I know I'm rapidly approaching that point....it's been a long week with Mike on 2nd shift here. It interesting that you mention OKW, I was perusing some travel guides on Pigeon Forge, TN and there was a hotel mentioned in one of them that was built by the same company that built OKW. I think it was condo rentals actually. Looked very nice.
