Magic Band Question

We visited 3/29-4/6 this year and upgraded our tickets to annual passes while we were there. They were added to our magic bands. Well, I received a brochure in the mail for AP holders that suggested I set an account. I already had one, but logged in and there was a link to order our new magic bands. I did. Now, we are returning in October and I am sure we will get ANOTHER magic band! How is this all managed? Which band is the correct one? And I have one more question....we are taking someone who doesn't have an AP but is buying a two day park hopper here. Can that be linked to her magic band once we arrive?

ok...this is quite confusing to answer because Disney is still trying to figure this out. My wife and I are AP holders and we now have a total of 6 bands (for the 2 of us). None of these bands were purchased but Disney kept sending us new bands as the MyMagic+ evolved. The new AP band you will be getting will have another little band that you can slide on that says Annual pass holder as seen in the picture below of our bands. We asked Disney which band works and which dont. They told us that ALL the bands should work. So my 3 and my wife's 3 will work in all the parks. So basically you can wear them according to your outfit if you'd like too. Your friends magic band will be updated with out a problem. Disney will also send you a special AP card for parking and discounts. Dont forget to buy a Tables in Wonderland card. TIW is a no brainer for an AP.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had known that before I ordered the same color that I already have!! If I get a third, I will change it!!

Ditto. The first set just had our names. Once I realized they were sending a second (and a third, fourth & fifth) set, I now customize with our initials and the date of the trip (xxx010114) just so I can keep track. Our A/P band I tagged as xxxPASS. I'm missing blue, while DBF is missing pink and we're both missing grey.

Its a waste of money to get new ones each trip (I now have 7 of them)...but the ONLY thing "in" the wristbands is a number coded to your My Disney Experience account -- that's it -- they all remain active until you deactivate them...

I have 4 different bands. I can bring whichever one I want with me. When I check in, the hotel just clicks something in the computer to say that I am using an old band instead of yet another new one.

OK sorry if this has been posted somewhere already (I'm sure it has). I looked and looked and couldn't find the exact answer. I am staying at Art of Animation for one night with my bf. I am an AP and I already have two Magic Bands. He bought two day tickets and doesn't yet own a MB. Our hotel reservation on MDE says that our Magic Bands are waiting for us at the hotel when we arrive. My question is, if we never "ordered them" as I have in the past, are they just going to give us generic grey ones when we get there? And if so, is there any way to customize them before we arrive?

Pick up your customized MagicBand order at your Resort Front Desk."

They only ship if you customize them more than 30 days out from your check-in date.

If you *did* customize them but were between 5 and 30 days out, then the customized ones will be waiting at the front desk when you check in.
If you didn't go online and customize them at all (the cutoff is 5 days before checkin), then everyone will get a generic gray one without a name on the inside.

You can still use your old Band(s) interchangeably with the new gray one, but your bf would only have the gray one to use.

Additional Bands can be bought for about $13.

Gotcha, thanks! Also, can the bf use one of my other band if he wants? Or can those only be used for me?

Those are only linked to you and there is no way to change that.

Technically he could wear one of yours but it would really only give him hotel room access and room charging. If he tried to use it for park entrance or FP+ it would be trying to access *your* ticket and FP+, not his.
