Maelstrom's crappy new exit

So anyone familiar with Maelstrom at Epcot knows that typically, after the ride, you sometimes have to wait in the little Norweigan village for 5 minutes for the previous movie to let out. Well, that's changed. Now, they leave the doors open on both sides (entrance to theater and exit) at all times. So, you could walk in to the theater right in the middle of the movie. Or, you could luck out and get in before the next show starts. But what sucks is, you've got both doors open, noise from both ends, people walking right through in front of the screen, etc.

I know a lot of people skip this movie, but for those that enjoy it, this is a massive FAIL on Disney's part.

We are ones who walk right thru...can only watch so many time!!! But I do agree with you that its not a grand idea to leave the doors open all the time. The folks who do what to watch should not have to deal with others walking in front or being loud durning the show. Must be a better way.

Must be an alternate exit.

I just don't see what the big deal is if you have to wait in that village for 5 minutes. Have one of the Norway CM's play a game with the guests about Norway or something.

Anything would be better than that solution...

But I confess to being one of the families who just walks through. We've seen the movie so many times that I think we could quote the whole thing. After 15 years or so, it usually is time to change up a movie that wasn't a blockbuster to begin with.

I agree they should update it. But still, you know how there are some things on every trip you like to do once? Imagine every film they showed at Disney, if they left the doors open and had people walking in and out of the theater. It's stupid.

I completely agree. perhaps they could come up with an alternate exit, or perhaps find a way to walk people through the back without disturbing the people who are watching.

Of course, this comes back to the conversation about relaxing a bit on your vacation or being so uptight that you can't wait 4 minutes after the ride to do something. I tour the park like a commando with my kids, but even I can take 3 minutes to relax and enjoy the people I'm traveling with.

Do they though? Are there nifty Norweigian games I am not aware of???

I would hope all countries of the world have games derived from their homeland.

I was tickled that the dock prison allowed free passage last trip. It was a terrible idea to begin with and I a suprised it took this long to change.

Have THOR host the post ride show and I'm all for it.

Why doesn't the movie play while in line instead? Is the line to exciting?

Cheapest and easiest move to eliminate a long time problem.

Whose idea was it to have a movie after a somewhat thrilling ride anyway? IMO the movie should be first or at least in the queue. Could you imagine a movie after Everest? It is like they are saying, "here's a cool ride, now time for a nap."

There's no good answer for this one, people will complain either way. It's been that way since this attraction opened. Love the movie, hate the movie, run though, sit and watch, why is it at the end, why do we have to sit in the village, etc. etc.

This is just a new variation on the complaint.

Tho--if I decided to sit and watch the movie, it might be distracting to have people walking through.

Again, no good answer that will make everyone happy at this point, unless they made a separate hallway exit for non-movie watchers.

For my part, I like the movie. So there!

They could tell those that don't want to watch the movie to swim for it.

I think that we miss the point. We all here have been multiple times and seen the same show over and over. We are lucky enough to do so, but what about the first timers or the people who just go every 5 years are so. Disney needs to cater to them as well. We all could wait the extra five minutes to let it be magical for those people.

There is nothing magical about being held captive after the ride.

This is the best -- and clearly most popular resolution to a decades old problem.

If you sit in the back row, you aren't bothered by anbody walking through. I would venture to say 90% of guests are much happier with the current situation over the previous.

It is a clear violation of "courtesy" to lock you in a holding pen until the previous show ends.

How is it any different than the Country Bear Jamboree, O Canada, Impressions of France, Reflections of China, Carousel of Progress, One Man's Dream, American Adventure, Hall of Presidents? Is it that difficult to sit down and wait for 5 minutes?

I agree, it wasn't perfect the way it was before, but this way certainly isn't a good solution.

Not really sure why they haven't just done this already. Seems like a no brainer.
