Maelstrom Closed for refurbishment

Maelstrom is scheduled to go down from April 30th to May 24th for a referb. Does anyone know the extent? Is it cleaning or pulsing?

Looks like Brad Rex and the boys at EPCOT care enough about Epcot's 25th to spit shine the place after all, let's hope they keep going around the lagoon (filling in a few of the voids with new countries or rides for those without as they go, LOL - NOT GONNA HAPPEN!).

Let’s hope they give us a get-around for the movie at the exit (we only watch it once in a while), but waiting at those door is such a pain.

yea I agree, also I wish you didn't have to like walk thru the gift shop after you exit there, if I wanted some stuff from the Norweigien gift shop, I'd go in and look, I don't need to be forced in there, then have to walk thru a traffic jam of people looking at stuff in order to go to the next attraction.

Disney forcing you through a gift shop after a ride is by no means novel. You used to be able to walk right out w/o going into the giftshop...before some..."modifications." Just like you used to be able to bypass the Splash Mountain giftshop before a wall "appeared" one day (a cheap looking one at that). Tower of Terror was the same, I believe.

Like the ride alot, love the movie, and love the aroma in the shop; it is a multiple stop when we are at the World. If you don't like it, that's okay, but it's one of our favorites.

My husband has severe allergies so he can't even go near the gift shops in Norway without breaking out into hives and sneezing his head off (the perfume is so powerful).
We are sadly those tacky people who climb over the ropes at the Fast Pass area:(

But I promise that is the only time we are "Disney Tacky", as we call it.

Ick! That stuff gives me the BIGGEST headache! I hate going through the shop.

Now I remember the bypass at Splash Mountain, I believe it was there before fastpass. But ToT, how did you bypass the gift shop there, it seem like it has always been there.

I'm pretty sure a certain door now with padlocks on it did not always have padlocks...I'm reaching back to my younger years, though.

I just hope they don't do the same silly garbage with Norway that they did with Mexico: take a ride that is supposed to be focused on the country and dumb it down by making it a Disney character ride. Unfortunately, I read somewhere that this is exactly what they are doing.
