Mad Tea Party closing for refurbishment

I am so sad to see this announced with only 39 days before my trip! I can live without the teacups this trip but I wish I had known not to let my little one get excited about them!

Same for me (45 days before my trip and this is one of my daughters's favorites with IASW:brick:). I am extremely disappointed with the attitude of Disney. Ultimately, I find it disingenuous to modify the offer of attractions within the period of 45 days while the final payment is made. I understand that this can happen in cases of force majeure which is obviously not the case here. I can not figure why a company of the size of Disney is not even able to announce the refurbishment of an attraction in a better delay than 39 days!! Disney calls us guests, but he should remember that we are primarily CUSTOMERS.:fork::mad:

This sort of stinks! My sister and I will be at the Magic Kingdom on our first day of our trip and that is the 26th. I love the teacups and was really hoping to make my sister sick this trip! I guess that won't be happening. I hope they really do something special with it.

I'm certain that this refurb was not aimed at ruining anyone's vacation. There are other ongoing and future refurbs and projects that are likely to impact customers/guests/whatever over the course of the next several years....

Wow, this is awesome!

If anyone hasn't seen it, here's the BEAUTIFUL DLP ride

Yes, confirmed! As I said in another thread, as long as it's improved I'll be happy. I will however continue to hope for the DLP like roof shown in the FLE concept art.

As for "ruining vacations", the attraction is closed "for your future enjoyment" and the amount of people who will get to experience a better taken care of/improved attraction will far outweigh those who will not be able to ride between September 26 and November 10 of this year.

While I can understand your frustration regarding the closing of attractions (IASW, Teacups, and Star Tours will all be closed during my trip), I also understand more the need to refurbish attractions for future use.

What I don't understand is the premise that Disney is doing this on purpose in order to secure your money.

I'm sure there are many, many things that would preclude them from announcing a refurbishment more than 45 days out. Perhaps the contractors involved were just finalized. Maybe the preventative maintenance part just arrived. Perhaps the funds were just released.

I can fully understand how long term plans can be turned on their ear in the matter of an afternoon (happened to my project just yesterday).

If this is a major disruption to your travel plans, I would think Disney would offer you a refund.

I totally agree with you. I understand that these closures and refurbs are necessary but i think these should be annonced more than 45 days in advance. But don't worry, my vacation will not be ruined. My daughters will certainly find an other way to get me nauseous:lol:

I could understand this complaint for, say, Splash. Or even Jungle Cruise. But, the tea cups? Get out your phone book, find your nearest amusement park, carnival, or county fair, and ride them there.
