Mad T Party coming to DCA

Mad T Party soft opened tonight ahead of its official June 15th debut. The reviews are coming in quickly and the reviews are fantastic!

Here's a great YouTube video of the first night; the DJ, the band, the bizarre slinky performer, the arcade, the bars, the costumed CM's, the decor and lighting, etc., etc.

Watching this video, I have to ask... Is there anything the Disneyland Resort can't do incredibly well now?!? Everything TDA touches lately seems to be done so fabulously, it makes me wonder how we ever got through the Paul Pressler and Cynthia Harriss years??? :ROFLOL:

Wow pretty packed for a soft opening. Granted it's Memorial Day Weekend, Grad Night, and only SoCal Select APs were the only ones blocked. Wasn't there a slight chance of rain today(May 25)????? We all know how SoCal has come to the conclusion that one melts in the rain:ROFLOL:

I'm liking what I see so far, the lighting is great! that slinky thing and flamingo thing are something else. Good to also see the otherwise dead and lifeless Hollywood Studios area alive and filled with guests again.

You mean you didn't love the X-Games Experience :rolleyes:

You know, I think the XGames Experience was really the very low point for DCA and the entire Disneyland Resort. It was the summer of 2003, Harriss was still in charge of the place (although Pressler had moved on to The Gap), Eisner was still in Burbank laying eggs, and even after two years of failures with DCA they refused to acknowledge the place needed MAJOR RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY to the tune of over 1 Billion dollars to fix it.

Instead they were still puking out panicky ideas like the XGames Experience for DCA. Truly trashy stuff worthy of a county fair or a Kmart parking lot.

To think we have gone from the XGames Experience to the Carthay Circle Theater in less than 10 years is absolutely amazing. The East Coasters here probably can't understand why we gush and blabber on about the new DCA stuff so much, because they were never here 10 years ago when DCA was a turkey on life support.

To see what DCA has now become, with an entirely different leadership team in place with an entirely different budget and frame of mind on how to put on a good show, is like something from a dream. Never in a million years could I imagine that this would all happen to DCA, and all within a quick timeframe of just a few years. It's absolutely stunning to witness.

But thank you for the great reality check with the XGames Experience reference! I had tried to block that out of my memory!

Based on what I've just seen in that video, I can say I'm in love. Mad T Party looks like SO MUCH FUN! Can't wait until I get some time and money to go. I'm in shock, honestly.

With everything that's about to go down in just a few weeks, I think I can say the Disneyland Resort is the best American Disney Resort. I've been dangerously in love with DLR for the past twenty years and now I'm going to fall even harder. But I'm ready!

I still can't believe X Game Experience happened. The arena is absolutely hilarious and hideous! Not to mention the "grass skirt themeing" around the porta potties.

Then there was Rockin' the Bay(2002), a few years of ABC Primetime Preview Weekends(I don't remember if those were popular or not). I do hope Food and Wine Festival can make a come back.

It is funny to think back on DCA what it was and what its become. I remember seeing the headlines, and boards screaming with excitement and jealously when that billion was announced. As well as that whole DLR vs. Anaheim vs. SunCal thing months prior to that Oct. 2007 day.

It looks nearly identical to the concept art!

Nice to see the Monsters facade interact with the place instead of being "pushed" to the side. Love the opening and closing of the doors.

Also this past weekend, George, Mary and Tom were all seen at the Mad T Party.

Tom Staggs seen in DCA (again and again, nearly daily)???

Per the forum rules and conventional wisdom here, that can only mean one thing; a new E Ticket has been greenlit for DCA!

Or... not.

:ROFLOL: Finally! I can't wait till it opens! perhaps it will be announced on the Parks Blog with no concept art?!?! and DTD will also receive an expansion with construction starting immediately.:cool:

Back to the T Party
Heres a 35 min video looking around the place.

Oh and there are also bubble machines around the area, DCA really wants to keep the crown of park with most bubble machines, each parade light tower has one, WOC has them, Disney Junior, and now Mad T Party.

Visited last night. More teens than what I expect the usual crowd will be because it was a grad night. Aside from one embarrassing cover of Pink's "Raise Your Glass", the music we heard was good. The DJ was tolerable, and we could see going back to dance some other night.

The souvenir cups and the digital projections got me excited. And the dudes walking around on flamingos were a big hit. I wasn't too excited about the theme (I hate the Tim Burton movie), but overall the vibe was simply Wonderland, so I couldn't complain.

New blog post about the House of Cards:

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/06/the-mad-t-party-has-built-an-amazing-house-of-cards/

Didn't get to see WHO R U? on my last visit but it looks pretty wacky and fun. I enjoyed Mad T Party more than I thought I would. The lighting and effects are fantastic, the music is great, and the Arcade is pretty cool. There is a special song they do in the middle of the set and they celebrate everyone's Unbirthday.. which was pretty fun.

I love the fog entrance through the Rabbit Hole but it seems like they are still having some issues with the fog creating a very slippery floor. They turned it on for about a half an hour before it was turned off for the night.

A few facts about Mad T Party:

1.1 – Miles of LED ribbon lighting at Mad T Party, fantastic, new nighttime fun in Hollywood Land

715 – State-of-the-art lighting fixtures illuminating Mad T Party

A new Halloween overlay of the Mad T Party begins September 13:

This fall, the Mad T Party is stirring in just the right amount of Halloween spice for a devilishly delicious All Hallows Eve T. Wander down the rabbit hole, if you dare, and step into a splendiferously spirited world ensconced in candles, fog and the most enormous cobwebs this side of the Tulgey Wood!

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are first to welcome you to this “Dead Man’s Party,” filled with more Halloween muchness than one can imagine, from a chilling new look for the Mad T Party Band to a monster mash-up for the Hottest Deck in Town. And when it comes to T Time, every soul around will know that “This Is Halloween.”
