Loud broken ride vehicle on Spaceship Earth

I just got off one of my most uncomfortable ride experiences. While riding Spaceship Earth, I noticed the car behind me was out of commission with red coverings over it. Partway through the ride, the vehicle started blasting out a really loud sound that sounded like a machine gun being fired. This went on for the entire ride and drowned out all sound.

As we pulled in, the operators stopped the ride to look at the issue, and I’m going to guest services now since it was a really awful experience. Has anyone heard of something like this happening? I couldn’t tell if it was the speakers or mechanics, but it was loud.

Oh no :( I just rode SSE for the first time last week. Luckily that didn’t happen to my experience, because if it did I probably would have been totally shaken up. So sorry that sounds awful!
I hope you enjoyed your first ride on SSE! My group had been on the ride before, but the noise really detracted from the experience. We will probably reride later though!

I had lunch once at the Rose & Crown, out on the patio. There was a speaker in the bushes that was emitting very loud buzzing and static, and continued to do so for the entire meal. It was really sad, because it could easily be fixed (or at least shut off) by pulling a wire on back of the speaker. Sometimes bad show happens.
Yep, I knew it wasn’t anyone’s fault (the CMs at the exit had a look of horror on their faces as we pulled in) but it was a bummer. I’m happy we got a FP out of it though since we had used one on SSE.

Sounds like maybe the out-of-order ride vehicle had issues with misalignment. Honestly, with as much use as ride vehicles have at Disney, they handle wear and tear remarkably well. I don't know that I would have complained to Guest Services, though, especially since it sounds like the cast members got right on it when the vehicle returned. With the time it took to go to Guest Services, talk to them, and get a new FastPass, you probably could have gone to another attraction. That's just me, though. If it really did ruin your experience and you felt like it wasn't handled well, then that's a different matter.

Next time that happens on ANY ride - tell the ride workers at the end. Ask to ride it again without waiting.
We have done this many times.
Our last trip to Universal was full of so many ride glitches - - - - - things that were not working right or at all.
Example - Half of the Mummy ride had no audio.
It was comical how many rides we rode had problems - - - Anyway
We asked to ride again with no wait - - - Every time they brought us through the backstage area to ride again quickly. No issues.
It helps if you know how the ride SHOULD be functioning.
We have done the same at all Disney Parks.
Rule - Always ask.

Why would you go to Guest Services? That comes off like you are looking to gain something for free. I'm sorry the experience was less than stellar but heading to Guest Services is a bit much. You could have told the exit attendant and they more then likely would have let you re ride.
The OP was right to go to GS. That ride experience was totally uncalled for - - -That cart should have been checked. before people were put in it for 12+ minutes.
I hope you get extra fast passes for that.

We had a nasty experience on July 4th years ago - - -- after talking to guest services over a couple of days they gave us both 1 free park hopper day with no expiration on our magic bands.

Disney may be changing in their parks - but to me their customer service is world class.

Sorry, I can’t be like that. A re-ride would be fine if it was something important.

If I got a nasty headache from a ride due to maintenance - - - I'm going to Guest Services.
Disney is charging a Premium for attendance $$$$$- - -- -I expect Premium a experience.

People were not placed in the vehicle, it was the vehicle behind them.

You have every right to go to Guest Services, but you're going to cause yourself more headaches than it's worth IMO. I'd rather move on to the next thing than waste more time walking to (and waiting in line in) Guest Services.

We have received 2 and 3 fast passes for poor service or other issues. I feel that waiting in a 20min line at GS is totally worth 2-3 FP's.

To each their own!

Let me just clear things up since I didn’t think this would get so much response.

Once I got off the ride, all the available CMs were trying to handle the situation. My group wasn’t interested in reriding right away as we had other plans. Guest Services was close by and the line was short. We explained our situation and we got one FP each.

I honestly think that was fair. The entire experience was more than just annoyance to us. I understand though that some would try to game the system or demand FPs but it just felt like the right course of action for us.

It is fine to go to GS services and explain issues, Lack of communication is a problem throughout our society. With that being said if the CMs were doing their best to resolve the issue you should also communicate that. I hate when people complain about the CMs when it is something not in their control. Its like being rude to the gas station attendant because prices are to high.

We notified GS of the problem and explained that CMs were taking care of it as well.
