I am guess you are implying that Disney is somehow not play9ing by the rules by playing the music.

No, not at all! I am implying that Disney is a member of ASCAP and with that being the case, they can play any ambience music by any artists that they wish.

It's been their since June at the least.

Also they play the Rohan scores, which are quite appropriate for the Vikings.

I know that it is the music of the Rohan. I was merely suggesting that it was, perhaps, inappropriately appropriate. LOTRs is about characters that never existed. Vikings were water people. Rohan are horse people. It is just a stretch and somewhat awkward to be looking at the remains of a real people and listening to the music soundtrack of a created people. All that I could think of was the movie.

Yeah, I'm sure Disney is really in the business of "stealing" music from another company. Being that they are in THE SAME BUSINESS -- and know the legal issues that surround stealing copyrighted music, I'm sure they have the proper paperwork filed and pay what they need. They aren't stupid.

That's what I meant by ASCAP. I wasn't suggesting that Disney was stealing anything.

Disney has used other people's music for a long time. The music played at the Wilderness Lodge is from many sources, the most striking is the score from the Michael Mann version of "The Last of the Mohicans". It is great music and fits the theme of the hotel, even though the specific Indian tribes involved are rather different. Disney has been asked many times if they will sell the music that they play at WL and always reply that they can't do it because of copyright issues.

teebin, just so you don't have the urge to bang your head against the wall :) I knew what you were talking about all along. It's weird, you pretty much spelled out exactly what you meant (Disney might be a paid member of an orgnanization that allows it the ability to use licensed music from other sources, which is why it has acces to LOTR music), one person read it and still took the complete opposite meaning from it (Disney might be a member of a company that steals music? ASCAP=All Songs Cribbed And Plagiarized? Maybe that's what they thought you meant?), and then people started commenting on the wrong interpretation as if it were the right one.

Similar note, I don't think the attraction even exists anymore, but a few years back. Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ had a giant flight simulator ride, and the queing area looped themes from movies like "The Right Stuff" and "1941." Now, "Stuff" is a Warner Brothers property, but "1941" was Universal (and the score is probably the best thing about that movie, & I'm a huge Belushi and Spielberg fan). I never once thought "How dare they steal this music?" I always assumed it was licensed.

The title says "Lord of the Rings is now at Epcot" NOT "Lord of the Rings is now part of Disney." ;) I supposed the title should be "Disney is now legally playing unedited music from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack at the Norway pavilion in Epcot" to make everyone happy. :hammer:

But it really does not matter. Disney plays many many other songs from actualy CD's from jsut about anything. This particular song was just the thread starters favorite it seems.

I must correct you Pluto77. Really, I should have typed the title as: "Disney is now legally (I believe) playing unedited (I think) music from the Lord of the Rings (the great movie trilogy) soundtrack; from the Rohan (those guys that rode horses and not big dragon-headed boats) theme, at the Norway pavilion's Museum, (which I never knew existed until yesterday, even though I have walked past this particular pavilion many many many times before) in the grand and inspiring World Showcase at Epcot, one of four theme parks on the Walt Disney World property in the state of Florida, located on the southeast coast of the United States. um... of America... um... on planet earth."
