Looking to buy a new Camera

It likes to induce quite a bit of distortion at 10mm when wide open and near its minimum focusing distance. Heres a really bad example, but its all I have on this computer, and I really havent had a chance to really mess with this lens, so I'll take some more tests at some point.

Speck reccomended this camera when I was shopping around last year. I absolutely adore mine! It's easy to use and has a lot of zoom. Not to mention lots of handy "cheater" modes..... :lookaroun

Which model do you have? Have any shots that you can show me examples of?

My disney trip is getting close so I need to decide what I want to get.

Since SillySpook has answered, I will try. I think she has T

he DMC-FZ3 is about $339

I think most of her pictures in "The Contest" is from that camera.

As much as the digital rebel gets a thumbs up from others here, it is well out of your range even if you are looking to spend up to $100 over your original price.

You need to look at a mid range point and shoot with manual control if that is your budget. I like Canon's best. I did OK with the A95 which is in your range. You will need to buy an aftermarket battery charger and rechargable AA batteries. Energizer makes a nice 15 min. charger that it excellent.

Here are a few samples of what I was able to do with the A95. All were hand held with no bracing of the camera so there was some shake. If you could steady yourself you would be fine.

I really think for a low priced camera, it is a really nice one.

Good luck,

I've been thinking of getting a Sony Cybershot, just wondering if any of you have used one? If so what your opinions were on the camera if it's decent, or if I just shouldn't waste my money.

Thanks!

I had the Sony V3 and really like the speed (super fast) but the photos came our oversharpened. I sold it within a couple of months. I don't think I would get a Sony again and will stick with Canon.

great pics .. my Canon PS A85 (4MP) produces too much grain on ISO 400 .. on lower ISO you can only do nice night shots with a solid ground (or tripod)

can hardly see any noise on your pics .. did you use a postprocessor ? :lookaroun

my camcoders OIS does great nightshots .. even with long shutter and freehand :sohappy:

Thanks. I did not use any noise removal software. The only thing I did do was adjust curves in PhotoShop on some to help them pop a bit. Just a tiny tug on the curves line though, nothing serious at all.

Though I used a lower ISO than 400, I am not sure of the exact on these shots though and would have to go and check the originals at home.

I highly recommend the digital rebel as an entry level DSLR camera.... I prefer it to the D70.

Of course, i think the Upper end Nikon D2 serier easier to use than the Canon EOS-1D series.

As for fireworks (I really should just sticky this) digital style..... Tripod, Shuttler release, ISO 200ish ... f/16 and above.... Its ridiculously easy.

Rebel XT or the Original?

Either/Or. XT is just a baby version of the 20D, which is a baby version of the MarK 2.

While the Rebel is good for the Model, its a several year old model. If youre going to spend the money, get the XT....
