Probably recycling an idea that has been previously discussed but rather than ADDING a 5th gate, perhaps some thought should be given to CONTROLLING admissions, such as time-limited tickets/wristbands. For a cheaper ticket, guests would be given either morning or afternoon admission. Park attendance could theoretically be doubled (all morning and all afternoon slots could be filled), ride throughput, while consistent, could be better managed when rides would be scheduled for maintenance, and lines could be shorter. Like a true park reservation system on steroids. While entirely expected to be wildly unpopular with many, maybe it is one way to restore the guest experience that once was enjoyed before the mega-crowds. This idea may not adversely affect lower income families as is sometimes projected as a side effect of using a "raise all prices" approach to limiting crowds. A local waterpark seems to do quite well with this approach.

Disney's missed opportunity was when it didn't jack up the price of no-black out APs (and all AP tiers under it,) REALLY REALLY high.

Free Parking, Discounted food and merch, special hotel rates, exclusive ride previews and 365 park hopper tickets? That will be $7,500, please.

Then price all the lower tier APs off of that price. That will take out a lot of the day to day over crowding.

we are all complaining about the disney Greedy and Bob Cheapskate.. and ol' Bob says.. hey if you are gonna come then you are gonna pay for it.. Well if you want to relieve OVER CROWDING. OPEN ANOTHER PARK.. if you start today.. it can be open in a year.. IF YOU WANT TO DO IT.. Epcot was built in just over a year.. Magic Kingdom, in a year.. in the past.. it was we can't build it, its a recession.. we couldn't build it last year. it was covid.. well guess what.. no recession and covid has cut way back, and you have more money then GOD...and they are bringing more in ..in dump trucks each and every day.. BUILD ANOTHER PARK.. No excuse now..

If theme parks can be built in a year, then why hasnt Universal's Epic Universe opened yet? Oh wait, it's not that easy....

Good idea, the months from November to April will have hardly any lines at all, on some days no lines at all. That 60 mile per hour ride in the convertible at Test Track would be a whole new level of experience.
Rockerfeller center and NYC is jam packed in December to. You have to remember this is New York, where outside year round warm or cold.

I remember a while back expressing my concerns that Disney's continual process of building more and more resorts was going to have an affect of higher crowds. That is the higher volumes of people staying, but keeping the number of parks static means more people per park, i.e., crowds.

That idea/mentality was largely poo-pooed, and yet here we are with Disney building more resorts, this time it appears we'll be seeing more DVC buildings at the Poly.

Sure, but how much time are you spending in the great outdoors in freezing weather. You might ice skate but you don't do that for hours on end. Going in and out, coat on, coat off nor are you paying over a hundred dollars for the privilage. I was born and raised north of New York City and I would not find anything in a Disney park worth freezing for.

I honestly love these discussions, but the current "administration" at WDW is about making the money, not spending the money.
I believe the official response would be we will open a fifth theme park as soon as the repairs are completed on the Yeti in Expedition
Everest.

I hope not since The Yeti cannot be fixed unless you want to tear down the entire ride..

WDW wants the parks to always feel crowded, to help keep the perception of very high demand and manipulate guests into buying tons of add-ons like G+, DAH, holiday parties, onsite, deluxe, dessert parties, etc. People typically rationalize these extra costs as a premium to avoid the worst crowds. Sure WDW is actually a high demand destination but I’m convinced they finagle park operations, staff, park hours, and discounts to keep WDW in a very consistent ‘feels crowded‘ pattern.
I think everyone forgets that it’s been crowded due to everyone coming to Florida as it was the only
Place open for a long time. We have had in the last 2 years over 700,000 people move to Florida and tourism has never been higher. Tampa/st Pete, Miami and Orlando not to mention other areas have recorded record amounts of visitors, more than at any other time. Pair this with cut back staff, limited dinning options and not enough rides to absorb the influx and you get the crowded park. In the first couple months after they reopened in 2020 they limited the amount of guests but that went by the wayside very quickly. The demand was too great to hold back the tidal wave. I think as other places start to open fully and the cdc gets rid of the testing requirements to come back to the US a lot of people will head back to the Caribbean and elsewhere.

Just because Disney has more on property resorts doesn't mean the crowds in the parks are coming from Disney resorts - there are many many more rooms off-site than there are on-site.

Yeah. Gone are the days of ghost town crowd level 1, unless you happen to be there the day after a hurricane. We visited Sept 2021 during a week of crowd level 1 across all 4 parks but it still felt much busier than the desolate Super Bowl weeks we did back in the early 2000s.

Guests can balk and cancel but there's still a steady stream waiting to get in behind them. Worst case scenario for WDW is attendance sees a decline (say when Epic Uni opens) and all they'll need to do is offer decent discounts or free food on the already heavily increased prices and guests will flock back because there's finally a 'relatively' good deal, lol.

Just think for moment on the absurdity of not growing a business when there is all time high demand. Why did they ever build more than the Magic Kingdom? Along the lines of logic I've been reading they should have just kept raising prices for MK an never built other parks. At some point they will have to build a 5th park. True those staying at Disney resorts aren't the only source of over crowding, but they are the only source of early entry over crowding. And with each new resort early entry becomes less and less worth it.
