Why was Lights Motors Action closed today?

Second, the a sign on Disney property refers to the show as "Extreme Stunt Show" only and the LMA part is removed (I swear it was once there). Is there a name change in the works?

I wish... the name is a bit lengthy as is...

I don't know what you're talking about. I could say "Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show" all day. I especially like "Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth" as well.

I don't think there's a name change. It's only been here for a year. If they changed the name, it would make sense for them to change the show, but then that would make sense with the closing.

Hmm...

I think we're thinking too far into things. Wasn't there a crash or something that happened in the show the other day? Maybe a performer was injured.

hmm, I wonder...

We saw the show last week and the entire "moat" was drained, so obviously no jetski portion of the show or flaming water during the finale segment.

I figured it was just some general maintenance... anyone have any more info on whats going on over there?

NASAMan is correct. Per the cast portal:

Please note that Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at the Disney-MGM Studios will be temporarily closed Tuesday, May 23. Performances will resume on Wednesday, May 24.

The moat was drained due to needed repairs around the bridge area but will return once the repairs are completed - at least that is what a CM told me last week when I was there.

I read either on LP or MC that there was a crash involving a Motercycle, but I am not sure that is true or not

This maintanance was scheduled way before the accident that you are referring to.

I was at another park but my parents were at Lights, Motor, Action when a motorcycle crashed on the ramp. The motorcyclist was doing a jump and didnt have enough speed and crashed into the middle not making it all the way to the other ramp. All of the cast ran over to the downed rider and he/she was not moving. A large tarp/tent was brought out and covered the downed rider and an announcement was made on the P.A. that the show was over and to leave the arena. I am pretty sure I remember hearing an ambulance siren while I was in World Showcase that day and I believe it was for the downed rider. I checked on here later that night while I was at Coronado Springs and didnt see anything so I figured he was not seriously hurt. This happened on Thursday May 18 sometime in the afternoon.

I've seen the show four times before and this was the first time I see a problem: On Saturday May 20th for the first showing at 11:50am, the first time the cars came out the black and red one glanced each another, it seemed like the black one may have had some body damage they had the front hood opened for a while. There was a delay of about 15-20 minutes then the show started from the top again.

The Jet skies were out friday, hopefully they will return soon.

There was a tech issue on Friday as well during the 1st sequence, the cars stopped as part of the choeography, but did not continue for about 2 minutes. The music kept going and everything.

Thanks for the update

Accident at LMA

Hi all.

I was at the Motor Stunt Show last Thursday when the accident happened -- the first motorcycle over the ramp appeared to be going just a bit too slow and fell short of the ramp, hitting the edge of it and propelling the driver over the handlebars. He skidded down the ramp (it looked like he had hit the ground shoulder-first) as the two following motorcycles made the jump and passed him without hitting him.

The driver did not move after he slid to the bottom of the ramp, and a number of the cast members who were onstage ran over to him. After only a moment, the announcement was made over the stadium's PA system to "evacuate the stadium."

Cast members appeared almost immediately and started having us leave our seats (we were in the second row, so we were among the first to start to evacuate). As we were moving out of our row, a group of cast members brought out a tent-like structure, which they put over the injured driver. They closed in the sides of the tent on three sides with white sheets, so after that was in place we couldn't see what was happening around the driver anymore.

We called a friend who knew people who worked at Disney-MGM, to see what he could find out. He told us the next day that apparently the motorcycle driver had not been seriously injured. That was the only information we could get from anyone -- the folks at Disney-MGM weren't talking about it.

We had been wondering about the moat being empty when the show started, but since we didn't get to see the finale of the show, we never knew if that segment of the show was just going to be left out or if something new would be done at the end...

I went and saw the show today. Unfortunatley, went to the last showing and got rained out....bummer....

but, the Jet Skis were there and they work prepping them to be used in the show, so I think it is back to full operating status.....
