Yes, this Pandemic has really changed the supply chain. We ordered some furniture and it took 5 months to finally get to us, which was a little over 2 months past the original projection.

Of course, that wasn't too bad all things considered, I've heard of people waiting 6-10 months for furniture right now.
Not to open a can of worms but thats partly our fault as well. Look at where furniture is made. The reason that we are in that issue right now is because it has to be shipped over here, there has always been a delay but now that everyone bought new furniture and other things we dont have the back stock to make up the delay. Lazyboy is one of the few companies that you have heard of that still produce furniture in the US. Even ashley which promotes its made in Wisconsin made in america, is only 60 percent made here

We ordered a couch early July. Projected delivery is around Christmas.

We bought a couch a couple weeks ago and we're fortunate that it was in stock so we got it within a week. If we wanted a different color we were told it would be 7-9 months (and a few hundred dollars more). Fortunately, we were happy with 1 of the 2 colors they had in stock so we went with that.

Plus the fact that there is a severe chip shortage...just try to find a new car of your choice right now...if the parts Disney needs uses any of those chips, that could explain the delay...just sayin'

Its not a us/non us problem its a fundamentally different way of buisness. Companies do not want shelves full. Thats money sitting there doing nothing. Its wasteful. Until.....resilience is desired. Our modern supply chains are all based on efficiency and profit. Sometimes the same thing goes back in fourth through countries because its cheaper that way. The downside of this is that you dont stock 30 days of marerial in your warehouse etc. You operate on a day to day basis you only have the tires for the car being built today and so on and so fourth.

Eidt- I would like to add risk shelves full of parts and or product is a risk. Theres always the chance nobody wants that next week etc.

In a nutshell
Modern supply chain =more profitable and financially efficient.
Also = less resilience and redundancy.
