I don't know if this has been posted but Screamscape has announced that Living with the Land will shut down from August 20th to Sept. 17th. This will give them the chance to remove the fastpasses and install the automated P.A. system that was rumored about.

I posted this in another thread but the tour guides will be replaced by RFID triggered announcements along the route. That's all I know though.

Its true. But if they were really smart about doing this, they should have fixed up the LBR during the time the building closed for Soarin'. They finally figured out that they cant keep Cast Members at LBR due to various different reasons. Which is why they had to go automated so they can cut down on staffing. Also, its about time they got rid of Fastpass, it was just a waste at this attraction.

I don't agree with that. The last few times we were at Epcot the line for LwtL was always over 45 minutes. Definitely not worth the wait to me so the FP was a must.

That's because they removed boats from the ride to make the line move slower and encourage Fastpass use.

Hopefully after this, the ride will run with all the boats keep the times down.

This is just a rumor Screamscape is not an offical sorce.

Screamscape may actually be right this time.

Tour Guide or PA...I could go either way.
Isn't this one of the signs of the apocalypse?

I like the idea of the PA. There are very few passionate tour guides on this attraction anymore. I would much rather have a well produced audio track than a live narrator with no tone or inflection in their voice.

 We have been to Living with the land several times when the wait was 45 min. at least. Maybe Soarin brought in more people that go there right after. I'm for the PA system. People acted bored. :snore:

I'm excited about the PA system. It will be much more fun to giggle at the 9 lb. lemons without a CM on the ride with you!

Well, if the allegations are true, at least I can say that I was one of the last few people that rode Living With the Land with tour guides!!

The ride system is essentially pirates/small world/river of time. They will add an intrusion system and new automated spiel which will allow for better consistency of show, as well as free up some labor which could help with staffing other spieled attractions.
Removing FastPass will also free up some bodies to better staff other locations. It will also save just a tiny bit of space inside the now very busy Land pavillion.
This is a win for everyone.

PS, when Lance actually posts something that turns out to be accurate, it is not a reflection on Lance (as he might wish), just an indication that someone sent him good information. (The same holds for Al, Kevin, and Jim. The only reason their sites exist is to make them feel more important. Too bad it works so well.)

Can anyone verify if/how this information is true?

Was there a CM meeting? Is there any sort of documentation?

I find it plausible, i just can't "go to press" on what screamscape says though, especially when all other documentation says there is no scheduled closure.

The spiel part is pretty reliable. LwtL never had boats removed to up ridership. The problem has always been guides for the boats. Therefore, this will dramatically increase capacity for the attraction, especially at early/late times. The problem is that it will likely keep the plants on show static since the spiel can't change easily with a "Hey say this." I can't confirm it, but I would say this is a good chance of being true.

I think that the spiel would be a nice addition to the attraction (if they do put it in). If they did a good spiel, like the monorail and not a boring one like they use in those educational movies, it could make LwtL seem a little bit more futuristic and go with Epcot a little bit more.

Or I'm just reading into it too much.:p

I'm up for a nice change!

God bless america! I the PA system is a must. Last year I could not even understand the guy on our boat. If I had never been through the greenhouse and his presentation was my first impression- I would never return. The PA will make it more consistant- like the voice on SSE.
