Living Seas

On my trip in March, I wanted to ride all the rides to see what I could remember from my trip in 92. I was dissapointed to see the Living seas ride closed. After asking a CM about it she said i'd been closed for long time, made me feel stupid for asking. I stuck my nose thru a small walkway that had a trashcan blocking it, and I saw the ride cars sitting there, looks like nothing's been removed. I should have taken a picture, but I was afraid of getting caught as it was.

Anyway, will the ride ever be reopened? and why was it closed?

There are plans though to reopen the Seacabs once the Pavilian gets more funding (Nemo has helped raise attendance), and the reopening is planned when the final phase of the Nemo overlay comes.

I do hope that the preshow isn't changed. Even though that part takes forever the video is cool and is still up to date. Of course the bad part is the waiting and waiting and waiting. Something needs to be done is it doesn't take as long, like change it to 2 theatres or something.

DarkMeasures - funny you should mention that! There WERE two theatres originally. They worked like the HM`s 2 stretch rooms (one crowd in one, the next crowd in the other, with the wait time cut in half). In their infinate wisdom, they closed one theatre (don`t remember which) and put a corridor right on the middle of it to bypass the preshow and get straight to the hydrolators. i believe the theatre is more or less intact outside the corridor, so if and when the SeaCabs come back, they may do a full refurb and go back to the original layout. Especially if demand dictates it.

The sea cabs were an "omni mover" type ride that you boarded in the Living Seas after you saw the movie and rode the hydolators. They took you through a short ride sequence and then you arrived at Sea Base Alpha.

The Omnimover described by Lauriebar took youu through the tunnels you can see from Seabase Alpha - as you walk out into the observation area you are walking above one of them, and if you look to the right of the obs area you can see the otherone from where it leaves the hydrolator exit area.

Loading was directly infront of you as you exited the Hydrolators
Unload was on the ground floor of `Alpha, directly infront of you was the Diving chamber. When you enter the obs deck upstairs, right underneath you was unloading.

I have stuck some stills from my tribute video in my album:

Hi, Cherrynegra

I did send Steve the tribute, but he did say something about the end being cut off. Others have downloaded it and not mentioned problems. I`m in the process of sending it him again, along with the rest of my collection (re edits of Energy, Horizons, Motion and Imagination included) but the Seas tribute is at http://www.wdwmagic.com/living.htm
