Living Seas "Grand Reopening?"

There is a brand new Pin being released on MARCH 18, 2005. It features a picture of Nemo and states:

"GRAND REOPENING
MARCH 2005
DISNEY'S
LIVING SEAS
EPCOT"

Does this mean an official ceremony will be held to dedicate the current Nemo tie-ins? Possibly an announcement about the FUTURE changes at Seas? Because from what I hear, Seas hasn't even BEGUN to change. (Rumored rehab by 2007, which would need a REAL reopening).

Strange, huh?

From www.dizpins.com:

Disney's Living Seas
Grand Reopening

This pin will be released at Epcot® at Pin Central and Sea Base Alpha at The Living Seas.

LE 1500
Retail $10.95

Just an idea, but since they're turning the sub lagoon over at Disneyland into a Nemo themed attraction with clear boxes containing the AAs, etc, why can't they use that same technology and do something Nemo themed with the Seacabs?

That has been mentioned...

Any `damage` from a leak has to have been done to the Omnimover track, and they must just be deffering maintainence of it due to costs - any major structural damage to the tanks integrity surely would have closed the pavilion (and most of Futureworld.)

Unless it is purely a manpower and insurance issue, as in the Imageworks. When did Pressler and Harris arrive at WDW... grrr!

I miss the SeaCabs.....is the rumor still floating (pardon the pun) around about "projecting" Nemo and friends in the area where the cabs were with either new cabs or SOMETHING added there?

With all the rehabing and "added touches" they've added to TLS, why not cough up the extra money and fix problem.....heck, even if we don't have cabs, wouldn't it be great to walk through?! This is the living seas - why not emerse us into the seas. *sigh*

Any chance we'll see an attraction go next to TLS and have an entrance from the inside TLS pavilion, sort of like the Land and Soarin?

I think this is an aweful lot of speculation, over the release of a pin. I would love to see the seacabs reopened or even have that area as a walk through, as suggested above. However, when I took the Backstage Magic Tour, I asked the tour guide if there was any truth to the rumors. He said that he had heard that it would problably not happen and if it did, it wouldn't be for years. I also asked a CM while waiting to see Crush. She pretty much said the same thing.

?

I guess I didn't realize that the "Living Seas" went down for rehab. What changes did they make to this attraction?

I did notice that the water outside the "LS" was completely drained during our last visit, but I thought it was due to excess water during the hurricanes. Thanks.

False Advertising?

So I conclude that just in the name of selling a pin, Disney has:

- FALSE ADVERTISING a "grand reopening" of a pavilion that never closed and saw its last new exhibit open 4 motnhs ago! WOW, WDW has stooped to new lows in my eyes!

October-ish 2001 I think...

I`m sure someone has the exact date:

Thanks Marni, but when did they start operation?

I was ther in 1993 and we came off the hydrolators and there was nothing. I was so dissapointeed. This being my first time at Disney and I saw all the other great preshows, rides and the ability to pull the guest into a new world. I expected this from Living Sea's and got nothing. It has always bothered me that Disney has never been able to give more depth and excitement to this pavillion. To me this is the one place that is a great aquarium, but not a Disney pavillion.
