Not to be off topic, but does anyone else see the hidden mickey on the crane?

^Very very doubtful. Most cranes have a pulley collective on top and in a lot of cases, from different angles they can look like hidden mickeys. Having a look at this one, it looks like just normal crane stuff. Just an odd coincidence.

Brad Rex was one of the greatest VPs Disney had for any of their parks, Epcot included. I met him several times...very nice guy, very personable, easy to talk to, and funny. He cared about the park and where it was headed. There are a lot of things that go into making a decision like removing the wand, far more than simply the VPs approval.

I will defer to your more personal knowledge of Mr. Rex. I am certain he is very commited to the success of Disney Corp, it just felt like EPCOT was floundering and stagnant under his watch. It's just like the head coach of a sports team. They get all the blame regardless of where the real problems are. The point is that things are turning around for the better at this moment under the current leadership.

I'll agree with you there. Things are turning around for the better, and its good to see. Seimens plays a part in that to some degree (if not to just bring up the discussion)...one of the other big things is the completion of Everest. It sounds like a disconnect, but Imagineering has turned to what they call a "reimagineering" stage. You won't really see huge $100 million dollar attractions in the next few years as they are now focusing on what is already there, refreshing and restoring.

I'd like to bet Mr. Lasseter helped when he became head of Imagineering. Up to that point it was a heads butting, highly political group that wasn't getting a whole lot done.

I am in epcot today and I will try to see if I can get some picks up using my phone. I can't promise anything though because I don't know if I can post them using my phone. :\ maybe I will be able to email it to someone so they can be posted.

I'm stopping by Epcot today on my way to the Pirate and Princess party, so I can have photos up around 1am or so, if no one is able to get them up before then.

No need to fear, EPCOTSERVO is here! I was lucky to catch BOTH the falling stars and Muppet Mobile Labs this morning! (I posted a few preview pics in that thread.)

Look for the update tonight, if not sooner! I'll get right on it!
