You are part of the problem, even if I’m siding with you.
I agree. And I’ve said it countless times, but I really should know better. I once wrote to @The Mom asking how to delete my profile and she said I couldn’t. I came here for magic and ended up becoming a leading contributor to this distinctly unmagical quagmire I’ve now found myself in. I take full responsibility for my role and apologise for not exercising better self-control.

You can at least take consolation that Snow White will be the last film where this is going to happen.

Her hatred was in response to the hatred ignited by Trump and a sizable chunk of his followers and policies that she feel will be harmful to many Americans. I personally think it was incredibly stupid of her to post what she did, but it's not like she was the one that started the wave of hatred that is plaguing the country.
What a shocker that the people who see everything through the lens of race and sex see their election loss as a result of racism and sexism. Yes, if only we weren't so irredeemably unenlightened, we would have elected a Black president by now. Oh what, we did?" Maher said. "And sexism? Hillary got 3 million more votes than Trump… Democrats run for office as if the voters don't live here, as if they don't go to the grocery store and Starbucks and the office, but they do. They live here, and they actually see women and people of color, and it doesn't look like some patriarchal racist nightmare."

"Democrats have become like a royal family that, because of so much incest, has unfortunately had children who are retarded. And the same thing can happen to ideas if they are also conceived in an atmosphere of intellectual incest. Maybe take the clothespins off your noses and actually converse with the other half of the country. Stop screaming at people to get with the program and instead make a program worth getting with," he went on to say.

I deleted my post so as not to contribute further to the mess this thread has become, so you must have quoted it during the few minutes it was up.

I doubt his lies were very funny for the immigrant community he was Slandering, but what does that matter, right, when Rachel Zegler is out there terrorising half of America?

Priorities. All. Wrong.
Lol! It's not wrong priorities, it's the ability to see the stupid on both sides. You should try it sometime, it's very refreshing. You're really stretching on this one. Oh well, moving on.

What does this have to do with Snow White?

Start a new thread if you want to air all these grievances.

Clearly this has nothing to do with the movie but you know this is just silly. This is from a 2020 study.

  • Splitting the vote in 2020. If non-voters all turned out in 2020, non-voter candidate preferences show they would add nearly equal share to Democratic and Republican candidates (33 percent versus 30 percent, respectively), while 18 percent said they would vote for a third party.

I think ignoring reality is what led to a blowout loss. Probably best to stop doing that.
What study? Who did it, who paid for it, and what was their stated goal for the study? How many participants, ie their sample size? What assumptions did they make about that sample size in regards to the population size makeup, ie gender gaps, age, race, etc.?

I noticed you didn't link to it so it could be judged on its own. Its clear just from that snippet you provided it makes assumptions about non-voters just the same as you do. You cannot just simply say the country is split down the middle based on a sample size used in poll studies like that. That is not how the country actually works.

It’s hardly a moral standard to assign more weight to the rhetoric of the future president than to the outbursts of a film star.

Priorities. All. Wrong.

I'd appreciate you not putting words in my mouth. I never assigned the same weight to to the rhetoric. I said Trump's comment was one of the dumbest in history. That's all your assumption I was comparing. I was responding to your comment strictly about Trump.

And he took his lumps for it. That's going to be made fun of for decades and decades. And I commend him for saying it. As It was two weeks of some of the funniest memes we've had in a very long time.
WOW!!! I was going to comment on your response to me… but why bother… this post tells me where you stand….. I found those comments absolutely disgusting…. It pretty much sums up why I would never vote for him

Whatever.

I've gone back and deleted almost all of my comments, which I hope will spare @The Mom some trouble. The last few days have been a really unwelcome reminder of why the politics forum had to go.

Does it? Because I found that comment to be the dumbest in political history. And tell me that you and Buford or anyone else here who is so offended didn't watch all the memes and laugh at them. And just to point out, if that's a reason you would never vote for him, that great. So then why is it not ok to see a movie because of what an actor says? Sure it's not the same scale, but it's the same concept. I see a lot hypocritical posts in here.

All right, I’ll bite.

No, I did not watch any memes, much less laugh at them. I don’t find anti-immigrant rhetoric remotely funny and never will.

Now that I’ve cleared that up, it’s back to Disney (you can do this, LittleBuford!).

I think there is stupidity on both sides. The country actually mostly lies in the middle of the political spectrum not to one side or the other, and most actually hate this one side versus the other rhetoric. Which is why this idea spouted by some posters that there is this "majority" that were being "insulted" by her comments is just wrong and naive about the makeup of this country. Its the 20% that she was talking about, as wrong as it maybe, but that is not the majority, far from it.

It is not the only reason….there is a plethora of reasons…. I have a couple of Coworkers who voted for him but did not like him for comments like that… but they thought the country was doing better economically (I disagreed) so. Opted for him anyway… most everyone else did make fun of the comment…. But they were laughing at him and did not vote for him(I work in a blue area)I did not find it funny…. But for anyone to actually say they are thankful for those comments…. But say Zeglers comments are hateful…. Well I can not comprehend that
