Besides Timon and Rafiki and 'holding' baby Simba.. does anyone know why you can't meet any of the other characters or at least get a picture. Just curious

The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie lol

My guess is simple logistics. It's not easy to put a human into a decent looking Lion costume. Monkeys and mearcats are easy.

I've seen a Pumba character dressed up on a Disney Cruise. Since WDI is no in love with the "living character" thing they should do a meet and greet in AK in Africa in a Pride Rock setting where you can meet all the lions in a living character type way. That would be neat.

Thoughts on my proposal?

I like it... as long as they don't taint the Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants with character dining, I'm all for it.

Oh no never. But really they should do a Pride Rock setting in Africa where you can walk along the trails and meet Nala and simba and Kiara in a living character type way. Like what Lucky the Dinosaur was but they would talk

I definitely sympathize with the OP since TLK is my favorite Disney movie as well. I wish they would bring out the hyena trio more. I've seen them in the Boo to You Parade. Have they ever done meet and greets? I thought I heard somewhere online that, at one time, they did, but I haven't been able to find any information on it, so I could be completely wrong. :p

I absolutely LOVE Grizzly Hall's idea! Though, if they ever built that, the CMs would probably have to drag me out of there at closing. :animwink: :D

Did any of you happen to see the wonderful attraction that used to be at WDW called 'Legend of the Lion King"? It was a live performance, done with life size puppets operated on a really cool indoor stage that made you feel you were really sitting in a area of the African Savannah. It used to be where 'Mick's PhilharMagic' is now. The only 'human' performer who appeared was Rafiki, both in the neat pre-show area and onstage during the actual show. It was awesome and unique..and i was sad to see it go. Totally understand the 'whys' though...one of the hardest shows to cast i was told.

Anyway, if you saw that show you could see it being coverted into a 'meet n' greet' type of area similar to the Ops suggestion. What a cool idea!

I love the hyenas when they appear in the annual Halloween Event parade. They ROCK. Always a nice plus to see them still included.

There HAVE been 'walkaround' style appearences of Simba, Nala, Scar, Mufasa, and Pumbaa over the years in the various 'Disney On Ice' productions. I have seen photos and it is easy to see why they never appeared in a Park setting ( not for close up viewing..). It is still cool to see them...but in their case seeing them in a Ice Show somehow 'worked' for the costume characters.

I don't see why they couldn't do the characters like they do in the ice shows. The Pumbaa looks great and I don't see why they couldn't do the others just like him. I mean there would be no autographs but it'd be a great photo!

In general animal characters that are depicted in the films on all fours are not used for meet and greets, at least not on a regular basis. The Lion King and Lady and the Tramp are two of my favorite films, but due to the more natural portrayal of the characters it would be hard to translate it into a costume.

I haven't seen the characters on ice and now I'm curious to see how they look.

I also remember Legend of the Lion King, it was one of my favorites too.

That's why they should do a living character type thing for those characters. Also they should do an Aladar encounter in DinoLand. That would be great. Since the next set are parents grew up on Lion King.

I've definitely seen LotLK. *points to avatar*:D It was definitely one of the best shows WDW has put on that I've seen. I wish they'd bring it back, but, sadly, that looks like it will never happen.
