Limited-time meet and greet with Belle at the Magic Kingdom's Heritage House starts soon

Could this be a test for something? Seems strange to put Belle in Liberty Square and to limit who can meet her. Plus if they're try to give an incentive to buy PhotoPass, why pick Belle? There's tons of characters that have become super rare, wouldn't they make more sense?

Belle is in a live action version of Beauty and the Beast that comes out next year.

I don't think anyone is "against" a Belle meet and greet at all. It's actually a great idea. But why Heritage House? Belle has her own little slice of heaven over in Fantasyland. Why not set something up around Gaston's? Why not in that general area?

Moreover, Belle is not really a rare character. The 7D are pretty rare.. Friar Tuck and the Brer animals are rare. I think Disney fans would be more upset if there was only a certain exclusive way to meet these characters.
Outrage or not, Disney has lots of things (meet and greets, experiences, events, activities, etc) that are "exclusive" and are upcharged for. They have been doing for years and seem to be increasing it more and more each month.

I'll name a few:

Want to meet Captain Hook & Smee? Pay for the Pirate & Pals fireworks voyage.

Tons of hard ticket events to meet Halloween, Christmas, Villians, Pirates & Princesses... Characters. Also to experience "special magic."

You want to look like a pirate,a princess? Pirates League and BBB are there for you.

Don't even start with all the character meals so you can meet characters without waiting in line and also meet "exclusive" characters (different outfits orbit available elsewhere).

There are many more examples and we could go on and on. It has been "pay to play" for a long time.

Disney is a business. They advertise and incentivize their products day in and day out.

Understand there are two issues here. 1) Thematically Belle does not fit in Liberty Square.

However repeatedly TDO has shown that they are willing to break with theme far to often these days and have shown that it is not following the theme parks axiom of continuity Walt Disney prided upon.

2) The addition of Belle is not rare, unique, or in any way "exclusive." It is not an incentive to purchase a product or a "benefit" to having said product.

Can't argue or disagree with any of your points. Completely spot on with your assessment.

DUMB DUMB DUMB IDEA! The land where imaingeers went through the trouble of recreating a sewyer in the middle of the street to be historically accurate is becoming a themeing sewyer where everything is haphazardly thrown

Is Memory Maker One Day still an option? I ask because there's no information on Disney's sites about it, nor does it appear in the app... I had hoped to purchase it for a runDisney race in Jan.

It's Beauty and the Beast's 25th anniversary so the Disney Store got a ton of new merchandise to go along with it coming out of the vault in September.

It struck me as a little weird, because Mermaid was released a year or two before it's 25th, as was Aladdin, though I suspect that case was more a way of cashing in on... er... paying respects to the death of Robin Williams.

I know we decided that we're all fine with Muppets in Liberty Square because... reasons.

Am I allowed to be mad about this and find it thematically inappropriate, though?

The "we" is a bit of a stretch. A lot of us are not okay with that. And as for this Belle thing, well, if you support the idea of theming as it was established by the creator of the theme park concept, then yeah, you're allowed to be mad - you should be mad.

Dave Chapek is a greedy oblivious pig. Am I allowed to say that?

Yes you absolutely are!! Seems like they are doing everything in their power lately to muddle the themes in every ingle part of the parks... Really very sad and short sighted.
