Why can't we have a great Hercules musical and a Hades Re-telling co-exist?

Never said they couldn’t. Btw, Wicked isn’t a retelling of Wizard of Oz. It’s a prequel story. Also, it’s by a different studio (Universal Pictures) than the original Wizard of Oz film (Warner Bros. is the current rights holder to the original film and that was produced originally by MGM. The Turner MGM rights purchase is why WB owns it), so it’s a bit of a different scenario than a studio making a shot for shot remake of their classic film. That and of course, the Oz stories by L. Frank Baum, anyone could make an adaptation of it if they have film rights to the books themselves. They just obviously can’t make total shot for shot remakes of the original film unless WB decided to, as they own the rights to the original film. (Which honestly is for the better). They ‘can’ make wholly new adaptations of the original L. Frank Baum book material though.

Basically, what I’m saying is, it’s better for both the original film makers ‘and’ the creative industry as a whole. If, as opposed to the same studio making a shot for shot remake of their original films. It’s better to either make a prequel or sequel that utilize as much of the original filmmaking team as possible, and also let other studios make their own adaptations of the original L. Frank Baum Oz books since that’s free game if the Oz book rights owner or estate gives them the right to make their own adaptation of the books.

The second half of Wicked, which overlaps in timeline with The Wizard of Oz, is absolutely a retelling (or rather alternative telling) of it.

“Creative Tensions” - Russos apparently want to do more of a Maleficent type with Hades, Disney wants more faithful adaptation.

Umm…the future of the MCU is essentially entirely in the hands of these two and the public reception of the two Avengers films. They have a lot to prove given their directorial output since Endgame. They need to focus on the MCU and the MCU only.

I don't think there is much to worry about as it sounds like its not moving forward anytime soon, at least not until after Secret Wars is released. So their focus is purely on the MCU it would seem. Sure maybe they take a creative lunch meeting or two, but its not like its actually in development beyond "talks".
