hehe. I'm sure many of you are going to find this mildy amusing, but here 'goes anyway.

Has anyone here ever acted mainstream? Like, commercials, extra-ing, TV/Film? I'm looking into it, and I'm having a tough time finding an agency in the NY metro area. I need to find one that has a website, since I can't be on the phone with these people. My parents want me to go to MIT, not MGM, so, until they tell me that they might have something that I could do, then I have to resort to emailing for my means of communications. Any agency specializing in youth talent would be a bit more helpful, since I'm 14.

I've actually done a couple of national commericials for the Discovery (Channel) Networks and a few local ones, one of them for a professional hockey team in Maine. (In addition, I have lent my voice to some characters in the LeapPad brand of learning books distributed nation-wide.) I got started after I won the Discovery Channel commercial (it was a "contest" of sorts), then I found a small youth and adult talent agency in my area. I'm sure there are some in your area, too. Do a search online or check the yellow pages. That's where I found mine. After that, they'll probably need a picture of you and then just sit back and wait. They'll call you when an audition opens looking for people of your "demeanor" and "caliber" :drevil: and then you go, give it a shot, and then wait for a call back, which there hopefully will be. (On a side note, I also had an additional national appearance, but it wasn't through a talent agency. Rather it was through the nationally syndicated game show called Jeopardy!. Have you heard of it? Yep. The one with Alex Trebek. I'll tell you, that had to have been the MOST nerve-racking experience for anyone who would appear on national TV. The bright lights, Johnny Gilbert and Alex Trebek's glaring in the eyes, the live studio audience, the countless cameras at every angle, and the knowledge that right outside that studio at Sony Picture Studios, in Culver City, LA, CA, USA, are a bunch of laid-back Angelenos and tourists alike who are takin' it easy like sunday morning. And you are sweating bullets trying to compete for the grand prize and a trip to Hawaii (which indcidentally, I won :) ).
But I do believe that is enough self-bloating for one post. I'll stop now. And, btw, good luck.
