Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

When hear things like happening this week makes me really wonder why anyone would go during Christmas. It doesn't sound very magical.
I will be done with all the MK headliners by 3:30 and started at 11 so it’s not all bad.

For people who don’t know how to work the system today is a nightmare.

It’s supposed to be a paid skip the standby line pass into a “lightning” lane between a select timeframe to get on the attraction sooner.

Just like the free fastpass used to be but oh well
No, it is not a paid skip the line system nor were FastPass and FastPass+ skip the line systems. The paid skip the line offering is the VIP tours.

It’s a skip the standby line for a shorter “lightning” line which isn’t always as advertised. We are saying the same thing just in a different way

So I’m currently in the FP+ line for big thunder mountain.

The wait for the “lightning lane “ is currently 30 minutes and backed up all the way to Tom Sawyer island.

Magic!
So the lightning lane was 30 min. What was the standby wait time at that moment?

So here we are. Unless you want to pay the insane prices of the guided tours, best case when it’s a busy day is to pay for Genie+ or ILL to wait only 30 minutes.

I am sure glad they are limiting capacity to the parks 😉

It seems they were overly optimistic when they came up with the name “lighting” lane.

It’s more like “shorter waits than the poor folks in the standby” lane.

The posted standby time at that point 130 minutes.

Maybe it’s a MK thing? I just finished Guardian's and Remi who both have a 2+ hour wait time but the lightning lanes both where short and smooth.

Since guardians and Remi had 2+ hour standby wait lines, it’s sounds like they were letting in more lightning lane folks in and less standby compared to what they were doing at Thunder.

And I guess as it should be. You want to get on an attraction, you gotta pay the price.
