I have no concrete knowledge of anything on this but I can't imagine a scenario where both EEH and Genie+ perks are not expanded.

The issue is, Disney is dipping their toe into tiered perks (EEH being the first one). Rumored DVC "diamond" memberships would expand this further. Again, no knowledge of this but if G+ resort guest perks are expanded, don't be surprised if they are for deluxe guests only. They sell the moderate/value rooms very well without such perks.
Ah yes the rumored pay for perks. They should take a page out of OOP CCV concierge and realize that's not wise. Doing tiers as they have with buy ins is probably smarter.

Supposedly, the idea is really popular among members that they've floated this to (I'm guessing focus groups). I'd be surprised if it didn't move forward in some capacity.
I'm surprised a little. Maybe I've been moderating a pretty large DVC FB group too long to think it was received well (rumor was discussed). Lots of annoyed as well as completely disgruntled owners. Removing the TOWL access really peeved some big time. To have to pay would be insulting to many if that makes sense.

Two weeks until the former ILL rides go back to ILL according to the Genie+ disclaimer. Space Mountain, Remy, Frozen, Mickey&Minnie Railway, and Expedition Everest. Anyone making predictions? Seems like it would be a pretty big mistake to remove more capacity from Genie+. I get that late August and September have lower crowds, but after that we're coming right back into the holidays which seemed to be the impetus for moving those rides to Genie+ before.

Also, it would be the first time any park would have 3 ILL rides. And absolutely nobody will buy Genie+ for Epcot if that's the case (many already do not).

I can't imagine both Frozen and Remy go back to ILL, maybe one of them ... But yeah, much less value for G+ in the non MK parks if you go back to even 2 ILLs there

Blech. They already killed the AP discount and now they're considering charging for perks? Maybe Chapek needs to be strapped to a chair with his eyes peeled open "Clockwork Orange" style and be forced to watch "Mickey's Christmas Carol" on repeat until he learns to stop treating guests like every cent in their pockets belongs to him. I know it's a business, but I also remember my college business courses teaching that good will does have value. Some guests might enjoy the feeling of his vacuum hose in their pocket, but the thrill usually wears off after a while and then they'll start feeling used and dirty.

An additional level of Membership Extras, rumored as "diamond." Supposedly may things like extra time in the park, private lounge areas, ticketing discounts, room request priority, etc. Fee was rumored at $100 per year but we know there is no way it would be that cheap.
I could see this at $100 per stay, per person. Def not $100 a year. Unless the offerings suck, of course. Or unless you had to have 500 or more direct points to be able to pay the $100 per year.

This may be the straw that broke this DVC camel’s back. I have been going back and forth with selling my contracts. I am so heartbroken with the direction the new Disney has taken. I know how great WDW was, so it’s hard to accept what it is now. Probably time to let go and enjoy the wonderful memories I have, and Martin’s videos.

I'm still giving it some time and have remote plans to buy in for more PVB when the time comes. But if the changes aren't fixed before 2024 we'll likely start selling off instead of adding on

If they do move forward, all things point to the perks being additional perks. The few existing ones would remain.
This totally makes sense as a new offering and not part of the membership extras, as they can up the requirements and start fresh. Otherwise the direct membership is only good for merch discounts and eventually the right to buy one of the Florida resident passes.

One DVC diamond perk they cannot give is room request priority. I don’t believe any contracts support this (regardless how they were purchased). They are already sticking their toe over the line with Riviera’s ability to trade into resorts with some owners not able to reciprocate. They’ve already been caught being shady with 1BR lock off premium and surplussing points into their pocket with the weird Easter season changes (Both of which they changed back after being called out).

So, I don't believe this perk is what it seems. Basically, as I understand it, the "perk" would be that your room requests (ground floor, near elevator, near lobby, etc.) would be considered first.

I can see the perks being pretty beefy and for direct only. They have an uphill battle ahead of them re: selling direct points.

That would be reducing value to other contracts, and I don’t think that ability is supported in the verbiage. Consistently contract language is in the spirit of first come first serve. Plus there’s no wording that says resale would get leftovers, for anything. DVC can only make changes that are seen to benefit the group as a whole. I’m no expert don’t think it is possible to offer room request advantage as a perk, paid or otherwise.

So really just some free money from people who will pay anything due to FOMO. Like me.

They better start actually giving me the damn room requests then, such as particular floors or room numbers

It would make sense, then, to make any perks available to all Blue Card members rather than trying to sell additional perks and making it seem like the option to pay even more for something is a perk in itself. "Buy directly from us and you have the chance to spend a few hundred bucks more each year for perks that resale owners can't get!" isn't as great of a selling point as they might think. Some people might like it, but I don't think it will do much to sway people who are looking to save money by purchasing resale contracts since those people are already looking to spend less money, not more.

I don't think this is an issue, legally. They don't and won't guarantee any particular room other than the booking category you land in. And even then they can give you something "better" if they run out.

What I'm hoping for is that they'll finally give one of my short split-stays an upgrade to a bungalow at PVB. I think that's what we'll all hope for, and not get.
