honestly tho and yes on vacation you really dont want to be on your phone but lets face it nowadays that people are taking pics all day long with their phones it takes seconds at most a minute or 2 to grab the next FP.... while waiting in line or walking off a ride it really wasnt that difficult to do... i can assure you i was on my phone WAY more than i have been in years using genie
It’s true, I think most of the time in the theme park is waiting in a line. It is a good time to check the app.

The inventory for non-resort guests, especially during busy times, was absolutely dismal. I don't know how you can say otherwise. It was absolutely horrible unless you were alone or with one other person. And it's not just non-resort guests. Plenty of resort guests (DVC members especially) who booked trips inside of 60 days felt this pain too.

I am not saying Genie+ adequately corrects this, to be clear. It doesn't.
again i know multiple DVC members family and friends and they have never had any real issues getting FP for rides... one exception for them was FoP which back in the paper return time days that they would put a month not a date on it... i brought a couple home for them w my rider swap passes as my daughter was too short at the time... is that is frownded upon so be it but im sure i wasnt the only one... to be fair i would grab others and make them ride w me or give out a pass if we werent gonna use it... definitely made people happy... one family swore i worked for Disney lol until she saw my sleeping daughter in the stroller with my mom and my ex walk off the ride

Right, so by modifying, you were refreshing. It took work and as you admit, it was not routine. That's a problem that most didn't complain about because it was free. Both FP+ and Genie+ take way too much work to skip lines.
Oh my gosh. I was MODIFYING an attraction or time and FoP popped up. I was not in there refreshing praying to the tiki room gods for a FoP, but when it appeared I would of course grab it.

Yeah others did play the multi-refresh game and it appeared to work sometimes but I never did that because I never felt like I had to in order to enjoy the parks. Now I have to refresh just hoping the app works and there is something to pick from at a time I even want

exactly thats my point and anyone who claims they dont have anyone in their party who uses a phone to me is a liar.... especially at a place like Disney where seems like kids are constantly on their smartphones sadly

Look, I'm not here to argue and I think a lot of people are conflating my opinions with the guest complaints that I've been conveying here. Regardless, it seems like you've had way more luck with me 30-0 days with FP+. Nonetheless, I completely agree FP+ is miles and miles ahead of Genie+. But I still have hope for Genie+ next year.

Well I hope next year they perform a miracle with this system rather than just limiting it. That is only a band-aid

Completely agree. The system worked because at 60 days you had your E-tickets and then you would use your extras for D-tickets and beyond. Personally, I absolutely loved it.
listen ill admit at first it kinda stunk when you think about all the planning but honestly a simple mindset change and embracing all the upside of it... it was a no brainer.. only thing i will say is at 1st i was a madmen making sure we got to our FP and going commando w an infant/toddler at the time my ex and my 63 y/o mom but honestly then i realized no need to we can just modify or as i stated numerous times especially when it came to meals delaying us they were so easy going and dint care and let us on rides anyways the handful of times it happened

Totally and the pain evaporated when you got to Disney and you had 20+ FP booked already. So even if you had to lose 1 or 2, it didn't matter.

They almost certainly will. I just don't know how they can keep the same Genie+ name on both coasts for completely different products.
I'm sure they will change it. One thing we know for sure it's not going back to being free and probably a rise in price as well. I have a feeling it's not going back to pre-booking either.

IMO i have my doubts that anything they end up doing will not work. Til they get away from the mindset of using tools to control guest behavior in regards to what attractions, dining and parks they use, I don't see much getting better. I have never seen a theme park worry so much about controlling their guests like Disney does.

A couple of questions for those who had success with Genie +
1. Apple or Android?
2. In park WI-FI or cellular data?
define success? lol i felt it was awful but still used it every day of my November trip and have purchased it for my August trip bc i feel its a necessity even in its awful state... I have an iphone and most times was NOT connected to wifi in park...

So here's the big difference between FP+ and Genie+ (intended Genie+ that is):

If you walked into MK at 11am with your family and opened FP+, you were getting very little without significant effort. Genie+ was designed to allow guests to walk in at 11am, pay, and then have the pick of the litter.

Obviously it's easy to say FP+ is better. That's a no brainer at this point. But I still think Genie+ can be fixed to offer same day LLs without hassle.

No it wasn't.

exactly .. it wasnt the end of the world and lets face it yes disney has changed for the worse imo but the Blue team or GS would honestly work with you 99% of the times w/ no questions asked.... you walked up to a ride and was even 20 minutes late they would let you ride unless you got some CM who was just looking to be a .....
