I don't hope they go that way. They'd have to charge more than Universal does, and there is no way they coudl give it for free to all their deluxe rooms. I'm not paying an extra $800 per day for a family of four just to enjoy the already overpriced theme park I paid $400 for a family of four to enter. I'd bet I'm the median guest here, and Disney would take a real income hit if they did this. I'd just stop going.
Ive stopped going I am always stay deluxe and eat at 2 meal credit restaurants, buy the cabanas, go to the shows

FP+ worked much better for resort guests more then anyone else. In reality FP+ had limits on it too. Look at availability come day of. A lot the good time slots and some of the too rides were unavailable.

If they cap sales it would open availability all day.
They can fix this without capping sales

Capping is like putting a band-aid on an amputation

I don't think they can. Inventory is by far the biggest issue. Capping isn't a band-aid, it would ensure availability every day, all day. Is the design clunky and annoying to use? Sure. But guests aren't complaining because they have to tap too many times, they're complaining because they paid $60 for their family and was only able to ride Space Ranger Spin.

People expect to ride their favorite rides when they've paid money specifically to do so. That's really the core of the issue.

This is going to be a rant but its well deserved. We all get it, you all loved FP+ and hate Genie+. I don't like Genie+ either. What I am seeing through this whole thread is you guys are so stuck on FP+ that no matter what they do it's not going to work cause its not FP+. FP+ is not likely to comeback, especially not free. Can we just get passed that and discuss ways to make Genie+ better?

There is a reason that almost every other park caps sales on skip the line. They don't have enough capacity for everyone to have it. Disney is no different in that sense.

FP+ stunk too, it's just 100x better than Genie+ We complained heavily about FP+. Did we forget the tiering and hopping rules?

Genie+ doesn't work because there's too many people using it. It's really the bottom line. I can tell you for sure people aren't complaining about the design or reservation process or even bugs really. The complaints are there but a spit in the bucket.

The complaints are #1 - I paid and got nothing. #2 - It used to be free.

I feel the same way about people who say Disney should adopt Universal’s Express Pass or go all standby. Those aren’t going to happen either.

I don’t care about it not being free. I don’t think FP+ was perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But when a company the size of Disney and with all the data in the world is so incompetent they design systems WORSE than the previous ones and cause guests more stress and frustration in those designs, I have to strongly question are they even thinking this through with the guest experience in mind.

This is the problem.........There is no way to make Genie+ better..........the problems are so widespread that it's a complete disaster and needs to be scrapped completely

  1. The entire Genie+ system is confusing and requires a TON of research and work to make it even marginally effective
  2. Not being able to pre book is a big problem
  3. 7am day of booking is a very bad experience.
  4. Not being able to choose return times is a major problem too.
  5. By not allowing pre booking, it requires much more time on my phone which makes our trip a lot more stressful.
  6. Not being able to “lock in” a selected time when booking a ride is very stressful.
  7. Not being able to amend a reservation without losing my previous one is very stressful.
  8. Criss crossing the park because you cant choose your return times
  9. the cost

Why did they make it so god D confusing?

Agreed. Of all the suggestions mentioned the last one @disneyglimpses proposed with capping Genie+ to 40000 guests a day and increasing the price to $25 would work.
In fairness to them, they felt the $15 price point was high enough that people would balk at it and wait standby. It was completely out of the question that they'd have to cap sales because there is no way more than 20% of guests are going to pay that every single day.

:)

That being said, the number of people who saw a measly $15 upcharge on tickets when booking their resort package as a way to "skip the lines," was incredibly high. Pre-sales were their biggest mistake I think with the service as it stands today.

So people aren't complaining about the 7AM wakeup every day of their vacation? Because to me that's just the worst.

Has there been an uptick in DAS usage since line skipping was monetized? Obviously here’s my disclaimer where I explain that I am well aware that not everyone who uses a DAS is an abuser (yes, some people actually need it, and I don’t begrudge them using DAS). But there is…some percentage of the population that is unscrupulous enough to lie, or exaggerate, to get the DAS which would allow them to 1) save money and 2) skip the line. I would imagine that with every new iteration of line skipping Disney attempts that either makes it more difficult to get (capping) or more expensive, there will be more people willing to cheat the system.
I will say this. Ive had DAS for years now. Before they introduced this pre planning option. I would simply walk into city hall and say i needDAS & they would say ok and askwho was inparty scan & take my pic. The interview process in November was ill say was a little more detailed & honestly just got specific bc it made it easier imo. But as i stated before yes it helps but fp+ was still the majority of my skips & i still purchased genie & ill this past trip.

We go at least once per year and most years 2x (April and Nov 2021 for eg.)

We are not going this year or next.......

We will not go back unless they fix the problem

Our trip was AWFUL. I'm not paying all that money to wake up early and hope i win a lottery to select the rides we want

They want my $, they need to guarantee me or we will go other places

The 7AM thing is bad but exasperated when people are already cranky and groggy and then can't reserve something because of a park pass hiccup (where it doesn't think you have a reservation at that park) or you simply can't get the ride you wanted and you spend an hour refreshing to no avail. And that hour spent after you just paid them $60 for the privilege to refresh for an hour.

NO it wouldn't...........There are MANY other problems
Let me guess the only solution is to bring back FP+.

If you cap sales none of your issues would be a problem. You wouldn't need to get up at 7am to guarantee you get something. Less people using it the more availability there is.

They are but if you cap sales the 7am wakeup would be much less of a problem.
