Booked SDD for Noon. At 11 we booked (2 hours after booking) we booked for 2:50. Shouldn't I be able to book another one when we scan in for SDD? It won't let me pick again until 1
Yes you should be able to....thats def a problem............sounds like you need to stop at a blue umbrella

I’m not sure we’re on the same page here? We bought Genie+ to avoid waiting 75 minutes for SDD but then also used it to avoid shorter waits on Star Tours and ToT. I think that’s probably what you saw with Spaceship Earth. They didn’t pay $15 to use the LL on a walk-on. They probably bought it for TT and Soarin’ and then just continued to use it for everything.
Spaceship Earth was always our 3rd FP+ choice. It usually acted as the buffer for arrival time. So booked around park opening time, if we made it in time, great. If we didn't make it in time, no big deal, we still burn through the initial 3 at the same time, and possibly snag another tier 1 as a 4th.

Interesting. If one of the new passes and your hotel stay is linked, that's a huge pain. I'll likely be in this same situation in a few weeks.

Has anyone here with an AP successfully purchase prior to 7am?
Is this a new change? I was able to purchase Genie with my platinum pass at 6:55am with the rest of my day ticket friends while staying at the swan.

I doubt they'd intentionally block AP with hotel from purchasing earlier as one of the big goals of Genie would be increasing revenue from AP guests. There have been a number of reports of AP holders with hotel stays that couldn't purchase it until 7 though, so we're trying to see if there is any rhyme or reason to it. If you were able to with a Platinum AP then it isn't universally blocked at least. When was your trip? Also did you do this on arrival day or some other day(s)?

Yeah but people said the same thing about Fastpass back in the day. In 10 years when Genie gets replaced, people will be asking for it back.

It was not on my arrival day, it was day 2 and 3 of my stay and this was in early November. I’m traveling again this week with 14 family members who have day tickets so I’m a little worried. I just called Disney IT to inquire knowing I most likely wouldn’t get an answer and she advised me to call the AP help desk which now opens at 6am EST to purchase genie + along with my family members if I’m not able to do it. It most definitely sounded like they are aware of the problem, though she wouldn’t say it.

That was how it worked at the start. However they changed things. This is the best explanation I have read about it.

You booked G+ #1 for SDD at some point at or before park opening. That action allows you to book G+#2 either after 2 hrs or when you tap in, whichever comes first.

At 11am, 2 hrs after booking G+ #1, you can book G+ #2. So when you tapped into SDD you had already used that G+ ride to trigger G+ #2. You don’t get to double dip.

Having booked G+ #2, you can now book G+ #3 either after 2 hrs or when you tap into G+#2. That trigger happens at 1pm

At 1pm you can now book G+ #3. You can then book G+ #4 either 2 hrs later or when you tap in. If your return time is less than 2 hrs away then you will be able to book G+ #4 sooner.

So each ride you book has only one trigger to book the next. Either 2 hrs after booking or when you tap in.

I did and she basically said you can't stack like that. In our case since we booked another one at 11 we had to wait until 1, it didn't matter that we used our SDD pass at Noon

Just to give an idea of what we were able to get today.

SDD for 12 PM around 7:11 AM.
At 11 AM we got Toy Story Mania for 2:50
At 1 PM after refreshing for about 5-10 min waiting on Star Tours we were able to get Test Track for 8:20 PM
at 3 PM was able to get Soarin for 6 PM

I assume at 5 we will be stuck getting Nemo, Figment, Spaceship Earth, or Living With The Land

I've seen reports that you wouldn't be able to buy them all at once because they are different ticket types, but most reports also say that you can't even order with an AP before 7. So hopefully you do well with it. Please let us know how it went if you can.

Just what my dear wife & I do.... DVC&AP.
Standby. Not participating in this atrocity. The beatings will continue, until everyone's attitude improves :).
The standby lines were too long even in late October. We would have wasted a great deal of our park time standing in them. (We don’t rope drop or close the parks.)

I went uber type A and timed all the lines I waited in standby. When I have the time, I’ll be posting the results and my analysis. Stay tuned.
Ha! This is what I am planning when we go to MK on Thursday. Our flight arrives at noon, so hopefully in the park by 3 (after we drop our stuff off at my Dad’s). Friday we have to do DHS and AK on one day. Epcot is on the 22nd. Other than maybe getting a Remy ILL we have no plans to use Genie.

But I did buy Touring Plans for the first time ever, so I can look at something in addition to Disney’s posted wait times. So if Genie+ has a silver lining it’s more money to a small business!

The simple answer was though...if you couldn't get the FP for FOP, SDMT etc etc...you simply rope dropped it on that parks resort magic hours.

We did this every time for Animal Kingdom and HS for Slinky...and SDMT at MK, and it worked perfectly.

This isnt ideal though. Pay $1000. Oh and by the way get up at the crack of dawn to get the ride you want most in order to get your money's worth. Meanwhile you are ir even using Genie for that ride you paid $1000 for.

I do agree many people have probably gotten SDD and Rise when it's a busy day/week. But apparently many did not.

From what I understand, the new rule for G+ is:

When you make a G+ selection, you can make another one: 2 hours later (or 2 hours after park opening if the booking was made before then) OR after you tap into your most recently booked reservation.

What's the likelyhood anything notable will be available unless you got your "most recently booked reservation BEFORE park opening?
Hate to say it, I am really missing FP+ compared to this. Glad we're sitting it out.
