Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

We talked about our experience with Genie + an ILL for our "real-world family size" - the two of us.
Hopefully that helped others that travel like us.
We are Disney-people and Genie + will not deter us from going. First, because we found we liked it, second because we can choose to buy it as we go and not for every day and third we don't have to use it all if we don't want to.

Your smiling family (which I'm sure would be nice to see) would have no bearing on our decision making and vice-versa. :)
There was a show on TLC with that 19 kid family. Would cost them $315 to ride RoR and that’s assuming no additional babysitters.

So, here in the UK we've just been presented with a surprising Disney offer. We've often been offered park tickets at special prices (thanks to more generous vacation allowances, the typical British visit is for two weeks) I've always viewed the offers as an incentive as we have to contend with expensive and heavily taxed flights across the Atlantic. But this week Disney Genie+ access for fourteen days is being offered to UK guests staying on property at £98 (or approximately $9.45/£6.99 per day at current exchange rates and this includes taxes). Are US guests being offered a similar deal? Despite our reluctance to buy in to this whole paid attractions rip-off, it's a compelling price. Just think, that if a significant number of us take up the offer, that's a good number of people chewing-up 14 full days worth of Genie+ capacity, rather than people purchasing on a day by day basis!

No we aren't.

Jump on it if the price is right! :D

Unfortunately, the price is too good to resist, I always thought that fastpass+ was at least a more egalitarian offering and one that appealed to our more socialist leanings here in Europe. Seeing the reaction of a large percentage of our American cousins raging against free market economics so representative of US culture is interesting.

I assume this will launch in the next week or two at DL. Most signs converted to LL already and they've dropped down to one ride using VQ. Waits this past week were pretty low so it wasn't necessary regardless.

Have you seen any photos of this? Last I’d heard/seen, only BTMRR and GRR at DLR had Lightning Lane signage.

Because Fastpass was free, the optics of charging an increased cost and making it miserable for the poor is a horrible look.

Also, if you make everyone buy Genie+ then the LL just become standby lines, G+ does not increase ride capacity.

Disney is trying to find the sweet spot where they make maximum profit without affecting consumer happiness (with or without G+) to a degree they choose not to come back.
I’m not sure Disney is really concerned with the poor.

I wasn't paying close attention but every one I noticed said LL. It was at least 4 I noticed but not sure which. I'm guessing RSR and Web Slingers but not sure. I didn't bother taking pics because I assumed any notable change would be all over the usual news sites.

Going for 15 days in March and we all have a 14 day pass. We've all decided not to use Genie+ whatsoever.
During spring break season? No Genie+? Be sure to let us know how that works out. I'm not disparaging you at all for not wanting to spend the money on Genie+. That's a personal choice for people but I'm not sure I'd go to Disney World in March or April without Genie+. Are you basing your decision on the ease with which people have gotten onto rides lately?

Not really. Planning on getting to the parks for rope drop and just hitting the attractions in a particular order. We'll probably do half days, but quite a lot of them. There's attractions we have no real need to do so think we'll get all we want in, fingers crossed.

What does this have to do with anything? WDW is not a thrill park while Universal is more so.

Meh thats a stretch. Universal has more thrilling coasters? But still far more tame than a regional park...furthermore there all themed far better than most. Universal gets this rep that i think is a little overblown...they lack a fantasyland....

Honestly this is one of the big things i hope epic universe addresses. I hope it has a true "fantastyland" from a demographic stand point.

So has there been a good guide yet on the best way to use Genie+ to get the most out of it? Going December 14th-19th, I know it won't be the same crowd wise but still would be good to know the best way to use it
