Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I just don’t see the numbers…they have set number of seats and too many butts

The ride is fine…but not much more than that. Dark/omni ride with good tech but a horrible IP due to catastrophic 3 movies.

falcon is basically solo…so that looks good too🙄

ROTR is the most overrated Disney ride ever…knocking off the previous record holder mine train…who knocked off everest.

it beat Apollo and Mr. T🥊
Hey now. Despite disco yeti I love Everest. It’s one of the last “IP free” rides that truly has an original Imagineering feel to it.

And you will most likely be wrong. The stupidly named Lightning Lane will be packed full of people who paid $15 for G+.
It'll be interesting to see how this breaks out. I would guess that people with lower incomes and large families may skip Genie+, or use it sparingly. Perhaps older people too who may be on fixed incomes. Genie+ may be populated by a lot of (Dual Income; No Kids), ironically the people who might be in better shape to tolerate long lines compared to large families or older folks.

Older folks take things at a slower pace and are not in any rush to ride anything, it's not about income. The older folks w limited mobility or disabilities are accommodated anyway w/o Genie. The folks that go to the parks to ride as much as they can as fast as they can are the ones that will be pouring the bucks into Genie.

What percentage of WDW guests are locals?

I would guess that the frequent visitor will be less likely to pay an additional fee with each visit.

The relatively low cost means it won't be a huge burden for most visitors. I can see it being used by at least half of guests on a daily basis.
I don't know the % but I would guess it is way less than DLR. That being said, Florida Residents already get ticket discounts. If they are local and have an AP, they already send a % of their paycheck to Disney, so they will probably fork up the $15 (even though I get your point they have more time/chances to ride per year).
Again...how does this explain the rides you pay individually (IAS) like FOP, Slinky. Test Track etc.? I guess the same example could have been given but for $39 dollars which accounts the high end of those rides combined with Genie + also. But do not forget, Genie + 15 dollars does not cover those rides (2 in each park).

Those were once free (one a day) now will cost money separate and on top of Genie +.
If your trip happiness level is based on riding a Tier 1 attraction, you will pay up. That's the beauty of it. If you don't care about the Tier 1 rides (scared or no interest), then you again don't pay anything. So you save money vs people who want it all.

I'll agree with this. Also, if those headliners do not mean a lot to you, you can actually make out even better because up to 5 rides that used to be tier 1s are part of Genie +. You can do Soarin and Frozen same day with Genie + as well as MMRR and Smugglers same day. Navi River also if you wanted.

A lot of people, if they were free though would do FOP and Slinky and SDMT etc.

Of course it's not perfect. But the alternative was we all pay more for stuff we might not use. (I will use it all, but you all know that).

I haven't been able to find an answer to this, but I think it would be a big mistake if Disney prevents you from booking a later slot.

This is the question of the hour and what I've been wondering also. Because right at 7 if I try for my first choice and they give me a time of 9:30 and I'd rather come later to the park, I could lose out if by then the other time slots are full.

But, yeah this is a wait and see. Apparently your 2nd ride if you have no other option but later in the day, you can choose it and then pick another ride 90 minutes later. But who knows how the first one will impact people who go later to the park like my family. It's a valid concern.

No. It's not wait and see. It's been answered over and over and over again.

Genie+ is "next available."

Individual attraction purchases can be scheduled.

It's not. You can be in hitting the join button within 4 seconds and still not get a group even if you know exactly what you're doing.

You're acting like anyone who actually wants and researches it (which already a ludicrous position) can always get a group with no problem; that's demonstrably not the case.
As I've said elsewhere, I've ridden Rise four times on two trips. It's not hard. Just keep off of the crappy free WiFi.
