Liberty Tree Tavern: Characters or not?

I recently purchased the 2011 edition of the Unofficial Guide and I was thumbing through it in the break room today. For the restaraunts in the Magic Kingdom, when it was giving the review of Liberty Tree Tavern, it mentioned it being a character meal. I know that LT did away with characters at one point, then reinstated them for a while, and last I knew, still didn't have characters. But I just wanted to make sure what the current status was, given what I saw in the unofficial guide. On another page, when listing all the character restaraunts on property, LT was not listed. So I am assumming that the section in which it is still mentioned as having characters, is an oversight that was never caught in the updating process, but I just wanted to double check to make sure.

What?! I had no idea they stopped the character meals. Granted we last ate there for dinner in 2006 and weren't particularly pleased, but I took it as a given that this was a character meal.

On a slightly related note, how is lunchtime at Liberty Tree? We're thinking of making a reservation just to do something different and the lunch menu looks pretty decent. Has anyone had lunch here and can say how it was?

Lunch is very good at LTT they have a menu Vs the family style dinner at night. The pot roast is very good and you can also get a turkey dinner similar to the evening meal that isn't bad. Yes it stopped being a character meal in January 2009 except for the short time Crystal Palace was closed for re-furbishment.

We LOVE LTT for lunch, it's in a great location, the menu is pretty good and the mozzarella cheese sticks appetizers are absolutely delicious! :slurp: We never go there for dinner but we go for lunch at least 2x during a week long trip.

We ate at LTT a few weeks ago for dinner. No characters and a pretty marginal experience. Food was OK but nothing great, the atmosphere wasn't special at all, and the AC was on so high it felt like an icebox. All in all WAY overpriced. There are plenty of places at WDW where the meal and experience are worth $30 a person. This isn't one of them, IMO.

It was pretty cool to see the characters dressed in period costumes when we went a few years ago. But I suppose Disney can't afford the $8 per hour anymore to keep them.

There are some of us that prefer meals without characters.
I'm still dying to try Akerhus at Epcot's Norway Pavilion, but those damn Princesses never leave.
