Lets set up some Blood Donation Times/Dates

Sorry to thread drift, but I had my cholesterol checked and the blood test didn't hurt a bit. I turned my head and didn't watch and by the time I looked over again (expecting the worst) she was opening the Band-Aid to put over the cotton ball and it was over. I didn't even feel the needle stick me. So, if that helps you at all...And go get that cholesterol checked!! Even if you're young, it's a good thing to know so you can control or fix a potential problem now-you'll be glad you did!!

Okay. Please drift back now. Rob-great thought. I'd be up for it here in Indy, if anyone else is.

I got it checked a few years ago, and I do have slightly high cholesterol (*sigh* its genetic.) My problem was that I felt like I was going to pass out afterwards, and really did not feel well for the rest of the day.
Anyway, I can't give (as I read above) because I am too young.

I wish I could give blood, but the last time I tried, my BP was just at the level where they won't let you. I'm actually now on medication to control it, but I think if you're on meds for it, they won't let you give blood either.

Unfortunately, I don't weigh enough to donate blood. I'm 19 but I weigh only 97 pounds. I've been wanting to give blood but I don't see myself gaining 13 pounds ever.

And with your being only 19, I'm pretty sure 13 pounds will settle themselves on you at some point or another in the future. :wave:

Well, to post back on topic I guess, lol... I went ahead and made an appointment for myself online. (Since response here seems to be underwhelming) But they were not doing a whole blood drive, it was only for platelets. Should I find another location to donate whole blood, or does it not matter? :veryconfu
