KINGDOM HEARTS III, THE FINAL PART (PART ONE)
And here we are, the final chapter of this reimagining of Kingdom Hearts. The new Keyblade War is at hand, but our heroes have some things to do before then.

Upon saving Aqua and Ventus, Sora, Riku, Donald, Goofy, and Mickey go to Radiant Garden to pick up Kairi and Axel, but also to fulfil a promise. They find Zexion’s progress with the Replica Program has been slow, as his research is out of date. But, salvation comes in an unexpected visit from Vexen and Demyx, bringing with them two fresh replica bodies. Vexen convinces Demyx to help him, in an act of earning redemption. Vexen still explains they’ll have to play their role in the war and fight each other. He also claims that another member of the Organization is in league with him.

In the actual game, this surprise ally is Saix, which I never understood, since he hates Roxas and Xion. Why would he aid in resurrecting the person who took Axel from him? Instead, the secret ally is implied to be Marluxia. Sora frees Roxas from his heart, and the same for Namine, but Zexion says their rebirths will take some time. Though Axel considers staying behind to watch over Roxas and Namine, he decides to go and prepare for battle. Before leaving, Sora asks Zexion to do him a favour, and to pass a message on to Leon and co.

The Guardians of Light gather in Yen Sid’s tower, characters having brief reunions with each other. Yen Sid explains that Terra will gather his thirteen vessels in the Keyblade Graveyard, and battle the Keyblade wielders to release the darkness and light within. Then, the χ-Blade will be forged and Kingdom Hearts summoned. Yen Sid officially names Sora and Riku as Keyblade Masters for their recent actions in bringing Aqua and Ven home. The Guardians are committed to stopping Terra, but Yen Sid warns them that they are going to war. For now, they should rest. But, Sora understands what he actually means – live tomorrow like it is their last day.

The group split up to spend what could be their last day alive. Aqua and Ven sit outside the tower, and watch the stars together. They promise each other to survive and rebuild their home. As for Terra, Ven is adamant that they can save him, or at least convince him to stop his plan. Aqua is more doubtful, since her memory charm didn’t work, but agrees to help Ven save their dear friend. She goes inside to sleep, while Ven stays outside, joking that’s slept enough.

Axel sits alone atop the clock tower in Twilight Town, eating ice cream. To his surprise, Saix shows up and chats with him. There isn’t any chat about a girl we’ve never met before being a lost puppy for them. Instead, the two talk about their relationship and how it fell apart after they became Nobodies. Axel apologises if Saix felt like he abandoned him, which Saix doesn’t deny. Saix leaves, telling Axel not to hold back in their inevitable fight, as one of them is bound to die tomorrow.

Mickey, Donald, and Goofy return home to spend some time with their loved ones. To their surprise, they find Pete is there, training to become a knight, though he refuses to follow Goofy. Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Uncle Scrooge also show up with food from Remy. Mickey promises Minnie that he will come home, planning to retire as Keyblade Master should they win the war.

Sora, Riku, and Kairi have gone, where else, but home. The three watch the sunset from their usual spot, and get all nostalgic on how far they’ve come, and how their lives were simple a mere two years or so ago. The trio have some fun like in more innocent days.

Riku goes for a walk around the island, and comes across his replica. The replica comments how he finds their home too small, Riku agreeing that he used to think the same way. But, then he realised he loved Destiny Islands because his friends were there. Riku asks his replica if he hates Sora and Kairi. The replica admits he finds Sora to be a dunderhead at times, but refuses to utter a rude word about Kairi. Riku then asks him why he is on the wrong side, the replica claiming he has embraced darkness so he won’t be afraid anymore, believing Riku is. Riku confesses he is afraid of losing his friends, but will fight for them. The replica departs, telling Riku that he’ll replace him when the time comes.

Sora and Kairi remain alone, and finally share Paopu Fruit together. They promise to protect one another, and hold hands. Then, they throw all caution to the wind and kiss. They then catch Riku watching them with a look that reads “It’s about time!”.

Yen Sid sits alone in his office, examining a photograph, showing him when he was much younger, along with Skuld. There is a knock on the door, and Ven enters. Yen Sid is glad they have a moment to chat alone, and grows nostalgic when addressed as “Ephemer”. Yen Sid compliments Ven on how he continues to find new ways to return, having chosen his own unique life cycle to keep an eye on things. Each of the five Dandelions chose different paths to take, and different ways to watch over each new generation of Keyblade Masters.

At this point, Marluxia suddenly appears, though Yen Sid tells Ven that he invited him. The three reunited Dandelions discuss their failure to prevent the first Keyblade War, but must stop the second from repeating the past, since they lived through it. Marluxia brings up Skuld and Blaine, saddening Yen Sid, who mutters that Skuld “made her choice” and Blaine “paid the price” for the one he took. The three rally to see that the Guardians of Light win, with Marluxia playing his role, even if it means sacrificing himself, since it would allow him to finally see Strelitzia again. Ven plans to save Terra, but to also stop Vanitas too. They bring up Luxu, who they know survived the Keyblade War too, believing it is necessary to seize Terra’s Keyblade. Unbeknownst to the trio, someone dressed in a black coat is eavesdropping outside the door.

KINGDOM HEARTS III, THE FINAL PART (PART DEUX)

Our heroes, the Guardians of Light, arrive at the Keyblade Graveyard – Sora, Riku, Kairi, Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Axel, Ven, and Aqua. Their first obstacle is an enormous tempest of Heartless, leading to a crazy boss fight where you have to battle 10,000 Heartless. In this fight, all of the Guardians are party members, rather than just Donald and Goofy.

The group win but are left exhausted by the fight. The Heartless swarm again, but Donald uses his strongest magic to stop them, only to be taken out of the fight. Goofy goes next, barrelling into the Heartless, but doesn’t come back out. Sora panics, only for the sky to split with light as Yen Sid makes a dramatic arrival, rescues Goofy, heals Donald, and sends the Keyblade wielders off to fight the Organization. He tells Ven to acquire Terra’s Keyblade. Aqua asks Ven about the task, and he smiles and says, “It is a long story.”

The seven Keyblade wielders find Organization XIII awaiting them, though Terra is strangely absent. Anti-Sora is revealed to be the new addition to the ranks, though the others find him rather vulgar. Xehanort and Xemnas mess with the landscape, scattering the Guardians to fight the Organization.

Sora locates Riku battling his replica, but catches Xigbar trying to assassinate him. Sora intervenes and battles the Freeshooter. Riku defeats his replica, releasing the dark heart within. Riku’s replica starts to die, but Riku decides to let him live by absorbing him into his heart. Sora and Riku team up to take on Xigbar, who they manage to outwit by using his own gravity powers against him. Xigbar appears to start fading, cryptically telling the two there if they think Terra is bad news, wait til the war is over. Xigbar then throws himself off a cliff and disappears, leaving Sora and Riku confused by his words.

They then join Mickey in battling Luxord, Marluxia, and Larxene. Luxord traps Riku and Mickey in playing cards and challenges Sora to defeat him to set them free. We get hints of Luxord’s past, claiming he has only lived for games, and saw all his past actions as parts of games. Sora ultimately defeats Luxord and frees his friends, the two agreeing to play a game again, though the next time, it’ll be for fun.

That leaves Marluxia and Larxene to fight. Once defeated, both collapse in each other’s arms. Marluxia addresses Larxene by her true name, Elrena, and asks her if she remembers his sister. Larxene does, and he tells her that he now can go and look for her, asking her to help. Larxene gives a serene smile for once and agrees as both fade away. Marluxia tells Sora to stop Terra, and to prevent another Keyblade War from occurring. Riku stays to heal Mickey whilst Sora goes on.

The next battle is against Saix, Vexen, and Demyx, but Sora is a little hesitant to attack the latter since they are both secretly allies. Kairi and Axel struggle to fight Saix, but Sora’s arrival helps turn the tide. Xemnas shows up to execute Axel for his treachery, making quick work of Sora and Kairi. Just then, Roxas makes his triumphant return, armed with Oathkeeper and Oblivion. Namine appears seconds later.

Xemnas is baffled by Roxas’ return, but this is where Vexen and Demyx reveal their treachery. Vexen mocks Xemnas, pointing out how just about everyone in the Organization has their own agenda, and none of them are loyal to him. Not being one to rage, Xemnas instead strikes the traitors with his energy blades, but Demyx opens a portal and makes a hasty retreat with Vexen.

Xemnas leaves, leaving Saix to face the four Keyblade wielders. After a battle, Axel takes the lead and defeats Saix, but is unwilling to kill him. Saix expresses how he felt jealous when Axel made friends with Roxas and left him behind. Axel promises to not leave Saix behind again and they say farewell for now. While Sora, and Kairi head off, Axel and Roxas have a moving reunion, whilst Namine watches on with a smile.

The next fight is against Vanitas and Anti-Sora. The latter is defeated first, Kairi effectively hugging him into submission and convinces him that he needs to be a part of Sora. Vanitas isn’t going to come so quietly, willing to rejoin with Ven, but only if he is in control. He considers Ventus to be weak, and he has done what is necessary to survive. He still wants the universe to feel their pain via eternal darkness. Sora, Aqua, and Ventus battle Vanitas and defeat him, unleashing the dark shard of Terra’s heart. Vanitas begins to disintegrate, but Ven embraces him, convincing his dark brother that they belong together, but as one being, rather than fighting all the time. Vanitas finally gives in, allowing himself to embrace Ven’s compassion, uniting their heart at last.

Our heroes regroup, with Ven and Roxas having a funny moment upon meeting their twin. Mickey takes charge, suggesting a plan to convince Terra to give up his goals without having to kill him. Donald, Goofy, and Yen Sid arrive to lend a hand. Obtaining Terra’s Keyblade is also a priority. When asked why by Sora, Yen Sid claims it “records everything it sees” and letting it fall into the wrong hands could be trouble. If push comes to shove, Terra must be defeated and his Keyblade broken. Aqua learns of Namine’s ability to manipulate memories and asks a favour of her.

KINGDOM HEARTS III, THE FINAL PART (PART THREE)
maxresdefault-111-1200x675.jpg

The Guardians finally confront Terra and attempt to reach his heart and any light that remains. But, Terra isn’t budging. He has reached the peak of his goal, and nothing will stop him. Not even when Ven and Aqua produce their lucky charms, and Ven reminds him that he kept his promise to be there should he need him. Terra shows a brief sign of being moved, but claims their lives, and the lives of everyone in this era are irrelevant. All that matters is restoring balance through Kingdom Hearts.

Yen Sid whips up some powerful magic, imprisoning Terra and relieves him of the χ-Blade, telling Terra the Keyblade War’s climax will be prevented, revealing he was around where the first war ended and witnessed the destruction. He even uses his magic to give everyone a glimpse of the tragic consequences of the Keyblade War. Even Terra looks horrified, and for the first time, begins to doubt his own motives. Darkness swallowed the universe once before, and only light could save it. Billions of people suffered and died. While Terra’s intentions are well-meaning, but they are wrong.

Terra instead fuses himself with the χ-Blade, releasing a powerful burst of energy that takes everyone out. With that, Terra casts a pillar of darkness into the sky, and calls forth Kingdom Hearts! He commands Kingdom Hearts to open portals to every world, that will allow the Heartless to devour each one til only darkness remains. Millions of Heartless appear, swarming our heroes and begin flying through the portals. Sora, Riku, Donald, and Goofy escape the mayhem, but witness Kairi getting devoured by the Heartless.

Sora loses it and despairs, whilst an enraged Riku, Donald, and Goofy attack Terra. We stay oon Sora as his friends are defeated by Terra. Roxas, Mickey, and Axel leap in to fight Terra, but they too fall to the Heartless. Terra fires an energy blast in Sora’s direction, but Riku leaps in the way and is mortally wounded. He tells Sora he knows his heart won’t give in to despair, and like always, will somehow make wonders happen, and they’ll get Kairi back. Riku falls unconscious, Donald tending to his wounds with magic.

Picked up by his friends, Sora rises, and he, Donald, and Goofy face off against Terra in the game’s final boss. Terra utilises all kinds of crazy powers, uses his Heartless Guardian, can use Xemnas’ powers, dark powers, and most importantly, the power of Kingdom Hearts itself. This would be the hardest boss battle in the game.

After the boss fight, Terra collapses and has a brief moment of exposure. Donald casts a spell and Namine drops out of the sky. Sora charges Terra, stabbing his heart with the Kingdom Key. Namine lands on Terra’s back, and together, they extract the χ-Blade from his heart, whilst exposing his mind to long suppressed memories of happier days with Ven and Aqua. Terra collapses, only to be embraced by a crying Ven, begging him to stop. Terra finally has a moment of realisation, experiencing flashes of the harm he has caused. For the first time, Terra expresses sorrow at his own actions.

Just then, the χ-Blade ruptures, damaged and its power about to implode. Before it goes kaboom, Sora uses it to call upon Kingdom Hearts’ light to wipe out the Heartless and close the portals. Sora takes the strain of the χ-Blade’s energy, Donald and Goofy helping. Sora commands Kingdom Hearts to absorb the χ-Blade itself, which is sucked up into a beam of light, releasing a blinding light from Kingdom Hearts. Everyone is consumed by the light.

Sora awakens in an endless limbo-like realm (The Last World) where the sky meets the sea and there’s no differentiation between the two. Sora finds Gula’s leopard mask, inspecting it with familiarity. Kairi appears, holding Ava’s vixen mask. As you might have guessed, Sora and Kairi are the reincarnations of Gula and Ava.

The two embrace and cry, happy to be together, but Kairi reveals her heart has left the Realm of Light and she appears to be stuck in limbo. Sora promises to free her, even attempting to summon his Keyblade to pull her out with him. She is unable to leave, but he can. Sora even suggests their hearts merge again, but Kairi says that is impossible in this world, implied to be the afterlife. Sora confesses his love to Kairi again, refusing to leave her, and stay with her if necessary, but Kairi tells him that he has to live his life. This argument goes back and forth, Sora hugging Kairi, not letting her go, cursing the universe for its sadistic sense of humour and need to keep them apart.

Kairi gives Sora a pep talk, encouraging him to do what he does best – follow his heart, and knowing him, he’ll find some way to bring their hearts back together. Sora gets an idea to use his Power of Waking and takes a little inspiration from Terra. He summons his Keyblade, but before Kairi can stop him, Sora impales him with it, and we cut to white.

Kairi awaken on Destiny Islands, and is greeted by her friends, including a healed Riku. When asked about Sora, Kairi reveals he used his Power of Waking to fuse with his Keyblade, and restored Kairi’s heart and body at the cost of his own. Riku assumes Sora might be dead, but Kairi shakes her head, saying Sora is alive but lost, their hearts bound. Everyone is relieved, hopeful to find him.

Terra is shown to be sitting on the shore, freed of his darkness, his eyes and hair back to normal. Aqua and Ven join him, and he can only apologise for his misguidance, seeing that darkness can be dangerous when misused. The trio make up with many tears and apologies, Terra realising he never let go of his friends, producing his own lucky charm, and trio holding them aloft to the setting sun. They all made mistakes, Aqua concluding that light and darkness are as black-and-white as she thought, and the heart is a fickle thing.

While Aqua and Ven start debating how to restore their home, Terra gives them a sad smile, admitting they’ll have to do it without him. He reveals the damage done by the removal of the χ-Blade and his own addiction to darkness has caused his heart to become weak. He jokes that Master Eraqus will give him a lecture, and bids farewell to Aqua and Ven, turning into light and fades away. Aqua and Ven watch on, a little angered that Terra found peace after all he has done, but decide they must crack on without him.

Riku, Kairi, Donald, Goofy, and Mickey watch the sunset, glad the battle is over, though some questions still need to be asked and things to be resolved. They all agree to work together to find Sora and bring him home.

In a montage, as “Don’t Think Twice”, we see characters from across the franchise. Goofy and Pete train together in a nod to Goof Troop; Donald, Daisy, and his nephews visit Uncle Scrooge’s bistro; Mickey spends time with Minnie and Pluto; Vexen and Zexion further study the Replica Program together; we glimpse Demyx, who has met Stitch, and they play their instruments together; Roxas, Axel, Namine, Hayner, Pence, and Olette have ice cream together; Aqua and Ven make markers for Terra and Eraqus; Yen Sid sits in his tower, reading through his copy of the Book of Prophecies; and Riku and Kairi watching the sunset together, Kairi holding Sora’s lucky charm in her hands.

THE EPILOGUE AND SECRET ENDING
There would be two endings – the post-credits epilogue, and a secret ending. The epilogue would have Kairi wake up in the Final World (which could be seen as Kingdom Hearts itself, since all hearts begin and end there). She meets Skuld, who she recognises as none other than her grandmother as a girl. Yes, Skuld is Kairi’s grandmother. Skuld tells Kairi that Sora has left, disappearing into another world, perhaps even another reality. Though Kairi wants to follow, Skuld explains it won’t be easy, but suggests a good place to start looking for a way is in Traverse Town. Chirithy appears, and claims there is a potential tool that could help: Luxu’s mysterious black box.

Cut to the Keyblade Graveyard, where we see the hooded Luxu using familiar gravity powers to dig up the black box. Luxu removes his hood, revealing he is Xigbar. He tells the Master of Masters that he completed his mission, producing the Gazing Eye Keyblade, and decides now that his task is done, he wants to take a peak inside the box, but needs to figure out how to unlock it.

The secret ending is basically the same as the canon game’s ending. Sora awakens in Shibuya, Tokyo from The World Ends With You. He spots the Master of Masters walking around and tries to follow him, but he disappears. Sora approaches Shibuya train station, and sees a silver-haired man standing atop it. He calls out to the man, assuming he is Riku. The man leaps down, but he is actually Yozora, the characters from Verde Rex, the fictional, in-universe video game in Toy Box. He resembles Riku, but sports Sora’s eyes. He asks Sora who he is, and summons a Keyblade, which is a lot more hi-tech and cyberpunk compared to the Kingdom Key. Sora draws his own and prepares himself as Yozora runs at him.

So you thinking of Ideas of a Kingdom Hearts IV?

What if you had these Worlds for Kingdom Heart IV? (Treasure Planet, Moana, Zootopia, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Princess and the Frog, Brave, Coco, Agrabah (King of Thieves), Arendelle (with Either a Sequel Storyline or an Original Plot), Toy Box (With the Rest of the Toys in the Real Toy Box) and Incredibles)

Yes to all of those apart from Atlantis, which I used for my BBS rewrite. I'd also put in Brother Bear, A Bug's Life, and maybe WALL-E. I'd also have Kairi likely be a main playable character again.

Axel sits alone atop the clock tower in Twilight Town, eating ice cream. To his surprise, Saix shows up and chats with him. There isn’t any chat about a girl we’ve never met before being a lost puppy for them.
Wasn't this implied to be Kairi to explain why Axel took such a liking to her?

No, Saix and Axel, in the canon game, apparently knew a girl who was one of Xehanort's test subjects. They longed to free her, but she disappeared. It is implied she is Skuld, one of the Dandelion Keyblade wielders who survived the Keyblade War.

See I took it as them talking about Kairi but it had to have been something like 2 AM when I got to that scene so it might have been my mind making a connection that wasn't there.

It revolved around the player avatar or Keyblade Master being left behind in La Cité des Cloches, a world based on The Hunchback of Notre Dame that acts as a hub world, as a baby. He/she was destined to find Sora, a fellow Keyblade wielder, across many worlds.
