This used to be done in front of Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom, but they moved it to Epcot several years ago. I personally am one, having seen both, that thinks the move to Epcot was a great idea, and it makes for a wonderful evening event.
It was actually held on the back side of the train station in Town Square. I worked the last one back in the early 90's and let me say I concur with you. The move to Epcot was a great idea. When it was at the Kingdom it was a crowd control nightmare. BTW I believe Paula Zahn was the last narrator at the MK.

Thanks for the updates. I was too far back to tell that the chorus members were high schoolers last time I saw it!

Anyway, in regards to the MK location, I feel better now that you said that. I had thought that was where I saw it, and I was corrected, saying it was in front of the Castle. I WASN'T INSANE!! :sohappy: Regardless, same situation. Definitely not something to be missed if you haven't seen it.

Great video! :sohappy:

Do they use the World War 3 bardge for this, too, or just the normal ones?
No WWW3 used for this one. I dont think the WWW3 has been used for years now, not even for the New Years Eve of July 4 shows. I believe the Maxi barges have enough spare capacity when they were reconfigured for the RoE show.

It looked to me like there might have been a couple extra barges, but I'm not sure. I didn't get a good look while it was light out.

It's worth seeing this thing just for the psychadelic color washes they've got going on the earth barge.

When I was there last week, one of the "fireworks guys" told us that they used approximately 1000 shells for the 3 1/2 minute tag.....whatever you do, don't blink!

:D

I've said this before, but RoE is my favorite thing in WDW. That plus the holiday tag is just extra- amazing. I went to check it out last week, and as a few other people have said, the last 30 seconds is insane. That night I was in one of my favorite spots, by the fence in Norway. I was sitting on the ground, since I can still see over the fence, and I could feel the ground shaking. I think I was shaking, too. When it ended most of the people around me were completely frozen for a few seconds. It is just incredible. I saw it again last night, and it left me just as shocked. I can't wait to see it again. The cool thing is, you can hear that last bit from my house. It's soooo loud. I go outside to listen for it now every night!

Oh, and back a few pages, some people were talking about the man who designed the tag. It's funny, because one of the first thoughts I had after I saw it the first time was wishing I could talk to whoever was responsible for creating that, and tell him or her how brilliant they are!

For those of you that have seen the show, do they have the projection on Spaceship EArth during the fireworks or just the finale?

I normally like to watch the fireworks from the Showcase Plaza, right when you enter World Showcase, but didn't want to miss out of the projected images, which would mean I would have to watch it in Italy.

Thanks for your help :xmas: :xmas: :xmas:

The projections on SE begin once the show and tag are over. They are made with the American Adventure laser.

I believe it,every night around 9:45 it sounds like there are bombs going off right outside my house...the first night I thought my upstairs neighboors were making the noise and were going to fall thru the ceiling... :lookaroun

The SSE projection was not on tonight (but was last night), and the tower in Italy did not light up......strange....anyway, it was a great show as always! There was a HUGE reception that closed off most of the World Showcase plaza area.......that was unfortunate.

Yes, there are two new barges that are identical. They are loaded with pyro. I have some pics, I'll post them when I get them uploaded.

It really is a wonderful tag! I hope that Disney keeps doing this every year. I'm also glad they did it the way they did without removing Promise. Two thumbs way up!
