'Let the Memories Begin' castle projection test video

This projection technology is the only good thing to come from this "Let the Memories Begin" campaign. Now that they have it, there is no reason why it can't be incorporated into Wishes or any other fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. Once you get past the silly picture slideshow, the video shows just what is possible to do with the castle with these projections.

I must say its nice to see these projectors at WDW, hopefully permanently. This sort of technology has been seen at other Disney parks for years, from IASW holiday at DL to the ToT grand opening in Paris. Its a shame it takes a stupid marketing campaign to finally bring it to the MK; it should have been here years ago.

I guess TDO wants to ruin nighttime photography of the castle. Enough with the ridiculous gimmicks! Everything has become so programmed, focus group driven drivel, and the quality of the parks have continued to decline all while the cost skyrockets.

Awesome technology! I like it. The pictures did look a bit slide show-ish. I really hope they use this tinker bell to start off wishes. They could make her fly into the tower then the live action version pops out and starts the show. Does anyone know if they will keep wishes around during this? I really hope so!

There is definitely potential in the technology and infrastructure created to project the images on the castle. However, Cinderella Castle is just not the right place to be projecting such guest photographs. If you really want to show the pictures I'm sure a number of smaller-scale efforts could be placed in differenrt areas of the park(s), and Tink flying around the castle works too, but pictures on the castle seems both odd and forced.

I really hate to say this, lest it actually happen someday, but Spaceship Earth would be a much better projection surface for this sort of thing. That most certainly does not mean it should be used as a digital photo frame for guest pictures, however!

DLP Wishes, although rarely played due to laws, uses projection and it looks VERY cool from the video. I believe the Blue Fairy is projected on the castle during her speaking roles and the castle had some kind of blinking magic lights (only parts that really stood out)

I do remember it was pretty cool though, so you may want to Youtube it?

The fish tank was cool. I think this is awesome. I don't see the fuss. Yes, it was a let down because we wanted more but I don't get the hate. It seems really unique and special. They are going to be able to do so much with this. I wonder if this will replace dreamlights?

I just hope that instead of this replacing Wishes, they make them flow together. I think everything announced was really cool. I think once it all settles, eveyone will warm to it.

I guess I don't get what the point of this is for the park guests.

Do they expect people just to stare at it in case they see themselves? Are we supposed to be excited looking at pictures of OTHER people on vacation?

Heck, I don't even like looking at my own vacation pictures, why would I ever want to look at anyone else? Especially projected on the castle. I just don't get the point.

Horrible. Absolutely and completely horrible.

Bad concept. Bad execution. The castle looks so pretty at night. Why would they want to take that away?

Reminds me of the Castle Birthday Cake...

Glad to see the castle turned into a screen saver.

I especially love the tarp screen attached to the front.:brick::lol:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it looked like the My Pictures screensaver. I thought it looked pretty cool until then, assuming the projectors are only during the fireworks show and the castle looks like the real castle the rest of the time.

What bothers me is this....those pictures. The article said something about photopass capturing moments...do the guests opt in? I like my privacy, and I'd hate to think that you couldn't use the photopass service without implying consent to have your image possibly float across the castle during the show.

Has anyone read (and can they link) more detailed information about it?

Love the new projector. Absolutely despise the "family photo album" on the castle. Like others have said, use it in the ads, fine. But, why would I need to be reminded of the fun to be had at WDW...When I'm at WDW!?:brick:

I hope this "people's pictures" projection goest the way of Stitch's Supersonic Celebration. Please oh please.:dazzle:

Gee, that movie screen right in the middle of the castle is real classy.

Almost as much as the stupid High School Musical Sign in front of the Hat at Disney Studios..I understand it's a show, but.....we have a 4 year old..we dont' watch that series so i don't have a SINGLE pic of the hat at the park without that STUPID sign in the middle...

As for the slide show..I can look at that at home..I don't want to sit there and watch other people on the castle..would it be cool to see myself, in a way yes, but 500 pics? what's the chance you would catch yourself and do you think people really want to see you up there?? Maybe a show in some of the lines while waiting for rides?? Give ideas where there are other photopass opportunities? I am sure that there are people at teh Disney corp that make a TON more money than me to think this stuff up (I am just a SAHM and a Disney nut at heart), but I really think they missed the mark on this one..and just ask yourself..WWWD???

I'm not particularly fond of this either, but you know the 'rare' disney guests are gonna love this.

I really don't think they will. The images go by so fast and are so distorted I doubt anyone will catch themselves until their photo has already gone by.

Besides, are people supposed to just camp out at the castle all night until their picture is shown?

Hey, it's a nice way to get people to pose for more of the Main Street photos (which I'm sure was the motivation for doing this – sell more people on the Photopass).

Ya' know, you have a great idea there! Put monitors up in the queue lines and show the photos of the day there! It'd be a fun thing to do while waiting in line and would save us from this monstronsity!

As for the stage in front of the hat at DHS, I don't understand why they couldn't design a stage that fit in with the hat (complemented it, if that's possible). Also, why can't they at least design it so that the banner on the stage can be rolled up when the show isn't going on?
