Legacy Reviews- The Incredibles

I thought the Incredibles was visually stunning. It was the best animation by Pixar yet... HOWEVER.... I thought the story at times was slow moving and to be honest I found myself bored about halfway through the movie. It redeemed itself toward the end, but it was still missing something for me. It seemed the kids around us in the theatre felt the same way. Many were up moving around as the story didn't hold their interest. In parts you were supposed to laugh, not many people laughed. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I walked away rather disappointed.

I won't get into spoilers for my review...

Animation: Visually stunning and Pixar's best...by far. 10 out of 10
Storyline: Decent storyline...but lost my attention through it. (It dragged a bit, and lost a LOT of the little kids' attentions)
Comedy: Here's where it lacked...the scene with him trying to put his belt on...NOT EVEN IN IT!!! That's what hooked me from the get-go. What's next...Episode III not gonna have Wookies? All of the funny scenes were in the trailers that followed the teaser.
Characters: Nobody you could "fall in love with". I thought the kid I liked the most was the kid on the big wheel that was outside of the Incredibles' house.
Action: Awesome
Superhero movie: One of the best ever made.
Re-watch-ability: Low for young girls...high for young boys.

If I had to recommend it...I would. Only because it's a movie that should be seen at the theaters. Would I say it's Pixar's best? Nope...that still goes to Nemo with Monsters as a close second (in my book).

Did I like it? Personally, I loved it (even though this review sounds rather negative). I'm a guy...I love superhero movies...and I love Pixar. Was I disappointed? Yes and No. It lived up to what I was expecting, I was just expecting it to be more of a draw for a broader audience with more comedic parts.

(BTW...I love Dash  )

You know I never noticed that until right now when you said that. I was waiting from the beginning for that scene and kept trying to figure out when it was going to be in there. That trailer got me hooked on it as well, and I'm really ashamed now that I think about it. I still love the movie and still give it a 4 out of 4 stars. Should I not expect to see any of the Cars stuff from that trailer in that movie either?

We're going tomorrow, and I cannot wait! Entertainment weekly also said this film should very likely end up in Best Picture category. Basically, their review said this movie is what ALL movies, animated or not, should strive to achieve. How's that for glowing? :) My 9 year old was honest to God in tears yesterday because I said she'd have to wait another 48 hours. Sounds like it will be more than worth it.

Well, we will be expecting you and your girls review tomorrow. :)

Better yet, let the girls write the review

Funny!! I'll go ahead and get the 2 year olds' out of the way...

"Good."

Actually, that would be a very good writing exercise for the oldest one. :) I think I'll do that!

I wasn't expecting it to be in the movie... After all, the Monsters, Inc. teaser wasn't in that movie either.

Uh...freak...it's called a teaser trailer. ;) If you noticed, they did the same thing for both Monster's Inc. and finding Nemo. It's just meant to get you excited.

I stand by what I said. Best movie I've seen this year. It had an aire of intelligence that movies like shark tale and Shrek ( ) seem to forget in an effort to make jokes.

I have a new favorite director in Brad Bird.:)

ps: Legacy, I've already seen "After the Sunset". It's a pointless popcorn movie. However, it kept me entertained (mainly because Salma Hayek is so easy on the eyes).

I'll be very curious to hear your thoughts on Polar Express.

See Bri... I didn't like Nemo all that much. Monsters and Toy Story 2 were my favs, but The Incredibles have easily taken the top spot. Personally, I though Dash AND Violet were appealing enough to be the "love'm" characters. Bob and Helen, not so much, but probably because they know how to use their powers. I hope Pixar does a trilogy, and I hope Disney doesn't try to get their hands dirty and ruin it.

I'm not really expecting a lot out to After the Sunset. I'm really going for the same reason you were entertained :lookaroun .

And I really hope Polar Express is good, but it's a short story that they are extending... and that's a VERY risky move.

And you need to let me know when you go to these previews. That would make my life a lot easier...

Did anyone notice the "ciggarette burns" in the movie? They are in the shape of the logo. If you don't know what a ciggarette burn is; watch Fight Club.

Did they use the same program for the hair of Sully in Monsters as they did in Incredibles?

Great movie. I may have enjoyed it more than my kids. I may see it again (without the kids. . .) Sets up well for sequals, but who would do them, Disney or Pixar???????????

Since Disney has the character rights, Disney would be the only ones who legally could do it.

True that... i'm guessing that it hit the cutting room floor because of time constraints. That or everyone had already seen it.

Obviously youre not a fan of Elastigirl and her thigh high black leather boots. :D
