I cannot decide!

I've had LeCellier several times. The pretzel bread alone is one of my favorite WDW foods...then there's the filet w/mushroom risotto... :slurp:

None of us have ever been to the Yachtsman. It seems to get good reviews. We're trying a lot of stuff for the 1st time this trip. I'm wondering if a switch from LeCellier to Yachtsman would be a good idea.

Any thoughts???

Yachtsman is our favorite for a nice steak dinner. It's a Signature restaurant so it's Business casual dress code and 2 credits on the dining plan...well worth it IMHO. Since you've never been there I would give it a try, add another first to your list.

My friends and I ate at both restaurants in Sept '08 while on Free Dining, and really liked both places.

And while the food was excellent at Yachtsman and we enjoyed our meal, when taking everything into account, all three of us gave an ever-so-slight edge to Le Cellier as the best combination of food, service, price and overall experience.

I did not have a good experience at Yachtsman at all. Both of our cuts of meat were fatty and, though we were on the dining plan, we had to pay out of pocket for any extras.... such as a side of vegetables to go with the meat (this was a couple years ago, though, so it may have changed).

Had a nice experience at Le Cellier, and have an ADR to return in the spring.

However, since you've never tried Yachtsman, and have been to LC several times, I'd say give Yachtsman a try. Many seem to have had great meals there, and my experience may have just been an off night. If you go, be sure to let us know what you think.

It has been years since we ate at Le Cellier but enjoyed it. We ate at Yatchman in Oct and LOVED it. My dd and I had the filet and it was heaven. My picky son even ate every bite of his chicken (kids menu). We will def make this a must do on future trips.

There is some sort of side with all the main course at Yachtsman. Normally it's some sort of potato dish.

It's the same at Le Cellier if you want something else than what comes with the dish.

Normally, both restaurants are good about substitution of the starch.

Oh, that's good to know about the substitution option.
When I went, I wanted the creamed spinach side, and had to order it separately. I think DH ordered broiled mushrooms, can't remember exactly, but we had to pay for both sides OOP. If I had known I could sub for the potatoes, I probably would have just done that. Thanks for the info.

I've never substituted mushrooms or the spinach at either place. At Yachtsman, I like the gratin potatoes and normally sub that if the porterhouse or whatever steak I get doesn't come with already.

I had both on my last trip....

I loved both...but really really loved Yachtsman. I thought the steak was delicious. (Although I still love LeCellier too.)

If you haven't been there yet, I say try it. It's excellent and it's nice to try something different.

(Or do like I did and plan both...:lookaroun )

Also, to throw another wrench into your planning, I'd also recommend Kona Cafe for their Terriaki Steak. Really excellent too. (I was a steak eating fool this last trip...thank you free dining!)

Little Sis!!!

Hi little sis, remember I like to try new things too, and the Yachtsman may be very delicious, but if it's not broke....don't fix it. Hey, but let me know how the steak is at the Yachtsman.

Oh, ABSOLUTE ditto :) If you want a serious steak, and are willing to pay for it, you simply can NOT do better than Shula's :)

Ditto....AGAIN

Best steak on property in order:

1. Shula's
2. Yachtsman

Best of the Rest

3. LeCellier

I would not decline an invitation to eat at any of these places. I'm suddenly hungry.

Yachtsman gets my vote..i have tried both, and Yachtsman gets high marks from me for the entire meal (including the steak).

DW and I dined at both places last August. Both meals and service were very good. The steak I had at Yachtsman was excellent while LeCellier was not of the same quality it was very good. The biggest difference is the price. If price doesn't matter go with the Yachtsman.
